I used to work around the area and whenever I need a cheap and quick lunch, I would come to one of the eateries by the street. Known for its poor cleanliness, at times I did not have a choice. Deadlines to meet were tight and there was no time to travel any further. The chee cheong fun stall is good, although there are only limited things to choose from. It is rather cheap too. The mamaks are just alright but if you have a weak stomach, I’d recommend you to have lunch somewhere else. I have seen rats climbing up to the roof and plenty of flies and roaches.

If you ever turn in from the Dutch Lady junction at Seksyen 13, you’ll pass by a row of food stalls on your left. During weekdays, you’ll see many people sitting around eating and cars double parking by the road side. There are stalls selling Malay food, Chinese economic mee and meehon, Chinese mixed rice, drinks, fruits and rojak. It’s not a very long stretch and probably less than 10 stalls in total. Since my office is in Jaya One, I like to walk there for lunch if the weather is not too hot. Although the cleanliness of that place is not that good, but the food is cheap. Usually I’ll go for the mixed rice, unless there Mee Soto available on that day. Although it’s not the best soto I’ve had, but the broth is still flavourful with enough shredded chicken meat in it. Despite the hot weather and cleanliness issue, I’d still recommend this place if you are looking for a quick and cheap meal.

There isn’t a name for this food street, thus, I named it as Section 13 Food Street. If you want to search this place, just key in «Jalan 13/6A», You will find it. Basically, it is located at Proton Edar Service Center and UTARPJ area. There isn’t many stalls; however, you can find various local food there. No doubt, nearby this area, there are many foodcourts and shopping malls, you can choose to eat there. But people who work there, sometimes, you just want to give yourself more options. And also, UTAR students will hop on here because they sell really cheap food. Food Street here opens in the early morning and closes after afternoon. So, many working adults like me, usually buy my breakfast there. Some stalls do not open so early, around 10am, all will open. You can find mamak food, chinese food, maggi goreng, nasi lemak, ju cheong fan, etc there. You are free to sit at any table. They won’t fight with one another like some other Wai Sek Gai. Whether it is hot or cold, it depends on the weather. It isn’t a building, but only shade was built at the dining area. So, do not expect much on its ambiance except cheap price. in short, Section 13 Food Street will be a place for whom wants cheap and delicious food. If you wish to have air-conditioned restaurant, well, this is not a place you should go.
