Came across this dish as some people were eating it in food republic. I also recalled trying it before back in Hong Kong. So I thought, why not give it a try. I went to the counter and ordered the exact same dish back in Hong Kong which was the beef pepper rice. Although it took some time for the dish to be prepared, I managed to catch a glimpse on how similar the portion is. Sizzling, smokey and hot as I gave the first bite on the beef pepper rice. Honestly, on the scale of 10, I gave it a 7. The dish was good but not as great as the one I have back then. For the price I pay, the portion served was really reasonable. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try othee dishes as I heard from friends their signature dishes include the pepper steak and teriyaki chicken!

Pepper Lunch is served on a hot plate with beef. It’s good because it comes sizzling and the pepper adds flavour to it. It’s cheap as it’s sold in food courts and the food is prepared quickly. However, the Pepper Lunch in Malaysia is not as good as the one in Singapore.

I was more than excited when they Pepper Lunch came to Malaysia. Famous for their fusion and local food served in a sizzling hot plate, which is specially designed to seal the flavors. Located at Level 2 of One Utama, you won’t have an issue finding the restaurant equipped with your two sensory organs. Your nose will be drawn to the aroma of yummylicious food while your ears will be your guide, hearing out for the sizzling sound of food on a solid hot plate. I tried the Salmon Pepper Rice with Cheese(RM12.90++). Service was quick and the waiter was extremely helpful in helping me decide what to order. My meal came with a generous amount of salmon chunks in their famous hot plate. The sound and smell of sizzling salmon got my taste buds jumping in joy. Cooking away, it’s one of those concept restaurant where you get to cook everything yourself, I could already imagine the flavors without taking a bite. This would be my go-to meal every time the craving for a steaming hot lunch pays its visit.

Ever heard of Pepper Lunch? It’s a DIY fast service concept, and I’m a big fan of it. The concept of Pepper Lunch is to serve their customer a fast, simple yet delicious meal on a sizzling iron plate. What’s so special about this? The iron plate is a unique design patented in Japan using a special electromagnetic cooker, which enable the iron plate to heat up to 260C for more than 20 minutes. Apparently, meat that is grilled at this temperature range remains tender and juicy, and the hot plate also keeps food warm for a longer time so the customers can enjoy the food better. They offer a wide selection of food of chicken, beef and seafood. My usual order would be the Beef Pepper Rice — Japanese rice topped with thinly-sliced beef, fresh corn, black pepper and butter. I always enjoy watching them preparing my food because you’ll be amaze at their speed of preparing the food! The rice tasted nice by itself, but you can choose to add in their special sauce for a different twist — Garlic Soy Sauce for the extra savoury taste, and Honey Brown Sauce to add a hint of sweetness into your dish. If you want something more than beef slices, they have steak on the menu too — beautifully marbled beef or beef patty made with minced premium beef. In Malaysia, they have 2 different concepts — Pepper Lunch Restaurant(Pavillion and Sunway Pyramid) and Pepper Lunch Express(you can find this in the food court of Mid Valley, 1Utama, and KLCC). Overall, it’s a good option to have a nice hassle-free meal at a reasonable price.
