There are many places like Hailam Kopitiam, offering the generic menu of western, local and Nanyang favourites with their signature coffee and tea beverages. While the overall concept and menu of this place is hardly original, they do managed to stand out with their coffee. Their original roast is amazing, not to mention cheap! Whether you prefer black or white coffee, kopi susu or the tarik, you can have an excellently brewed cup here. The food isn’t bad or outstanding; I love their Hainan Chicken Chop, Spaghetti Bolognese and Nasi Lemak. There is a lot to choose from here: noodles, rice, sandwiches, finger foods and an assortment of beverages, besides the aforementioned coffee and tea. One thing they do lack though is desserts. Perhaps another factor that makes Hailam Kopitiam a nice place to go is the casual and inviting atmosphere that makes you just wants to linger for a while. In the Greater KL’s increasingly competitive food and beverages industry, the right ambiance is sometimes enough to give a business the needed competitive advantage. Aside from that, there are no complains about the descent services and prices.

Meh. Hailam Kopitiam, one of the more conspicuous chains in Malaysia that serves actual Malaysian food, serves some of the better quality Malaysian dishes in town. Of course, their breakfast dishes are amazing, with their soft boiled egg being, in my opinion, some of the best eggs to eat in the morning. Their main courses, however, are a disappointment, simply because of competitors like Old Town. Ah well. That being said, I can safely say that this is the place to go to if you want to have a perfect Malaysian dish, and to have your money’s worth.

I think this place has a great location, and it has no other kopitiam competitors around the area so it should be on point since it is never empty. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, where they serve a mixture of straightforward authentic local and western food. I like the fact that they have traditional breakfasts sets, toasts eggs and coffee or if you’d want a full breakfast and they are not overpriced. However I have been here a couple of times for lunch and I have not been impressed with their food. I tried the Nasi Lemak Special with Rendang, and there was nothing very special about it really. My chicken was small and it looked like it was cooked yesterday. Sambal is just so-so. My friend tried the Tom Yum Fried Rice which wasn’t too bad but I thought it was a little too wet for my liking. I have also tried the Steamed Chicken Ho Fun Soup and the soup was a little bland. Only reason why I’d come back here is when I am in dire need of internet and I need a nice, comfortable place to seat for a couple of hours to do some work. Though connection isn’t great, I like the quiet and cooling atmosphere of the place, especially during rainy days. Service is good, they’d willingly comply when I asked them to restart the modem when Wifi gets weak. Well food wise, I’d suggest that you just stick to the toasts. As usual, you will be double parked and if you are going to double park, leave a number!

Hailam Kopitiam is your usual corner shop kopitiam, like Oldtown. Prices are about the same too. Hailam serves breads and coffee’s and also noodles, and western food etc. pretty much anything you’d expect to see at a restaurants is served here. The drinks here are so-so i still prefer Oldtown. The breads are okay too, nothing to shout about. I don’t usually have the noodles etc. cause i assume its not gonna be good, I rather eat those at a hawker stall. Its about RM10−15 per person here if you have a drink and some bread. They have several different kinds of toast which cater to individual liking.

If you’re looking for a place that serves just about everything, Hailam Kopitiam is the spot. When I say everything it means, they serve the basic things you can find in mamak stalls and western restaurants such as, sandwiches, pasta’s, roti bakar, eggs, coffee’s…but in a nicer place that probably has air conditioning. This place is in Damansara Perdana and is my emergency spot to eat at when I don’t know what to eat but I need to eat something for an OK price. When I’m here I try to keep everything I spend below RM15-RM20 which is pretty doable if you order their sandwich/pasta and a drink. It’s right only the same row at the famous mamak D’MAJU.
