Other than having to withstand the slow and sluggish service, the food here is actually pretty good. The restaurant is famous for the«authentic» Sarawakian food, such as the Sarawak laksa, kolo mee, and tomato kuey teow. I personally find the Sarawak laksa only mediocre, as the«curry» that comes with it isn’t thick enough compared to other places that I have been to. Having white coffee here is pretty standard. Overall, there is nothing special about the restaurant except for the fact that it is the closest thing you can get to Sarawakian food on this side of Malaysia.

If you’re from Sarawak and you happened to miss your hometown food desperately, you’re in for a treat because this place will definitely give you your fix! The couple who operates the shop is from Kuching. Their food quality is of the nearest of what you can get back home in Sarawak. They have Kolok Mee, Tomato Kuih Tiao, Sarawak Laksa just to name a few. And for those of you who are not from Sarawak. Do go try this place out and I bet you won’t regret reading this review! Do remember to go early as some of their food do sold out after lunch.

I was introduced by my uncle, who is a Sarawakian himself, to 7th Mile Kitchen in Kelana Jaya. According to my uncle, the Sarawak Laksa here is pretty good. The shop offers some Sarawak delicacies such as Sarawak Laksa, Kolo Mee, and Tomato Mee. We were told that their Sarawak Laksa sold out pretty fast, same goes to the Tomato Mee. The Sarawak Laksa was topped with prawns, shredded chicken, eggs and served with their house special sambal. The broth by itself was already aromatic and flavourful, but it gets even better by squeezing in some lime juice and mixing the sambal all together. I love the Tomato Mee here. It’s not your usual tomato mee, which most of the time you only taste the Maggi tomato sauce and nothing else. This is different. The mee was served with roast pork, vegetables, fish cakes and generously topped with the sweet and sour tomato gravy. Also, they serve an amazing 3-layered tea too. Well, it’s very common to find such drinks around but not many get their proportion right. You’ll get a very satisfying 3-layered tea in 7th Mile Kitchen with a very specific proportion of tea, evaporated milk and palm sugar.
