I was introduced to Xiang Fu Xiang Cheng by friends because they knew that I love spicy food. The restaurant served authentic Hunan cuisine and they have quite an extensive menu. The restaurant is located at the 1st Floor in Scott Garden, next to Beer Factory. After my first visit to the restaurant, I actually went back the second time bringing my brother and Joe. One of my favourite was their Spicy Fried Prawns. They were so crunchy that we do not need to de-shell the prawns; and they were well-seasoned with salt and dried cili. Another dish that my brother liked a lot was the Fried Chicken with Dried Chili. I was quite sure that the chicken cubes would have been dry, but I was proved wrong. The meat was juicy, and the dried cili made it even more appetizing. On the other hand, I was quite disappointed with the«Shui Zhu Rou» a.k.a Pork Slices in Chili Oil. I was expecting to taste the fragrance of Szechuan peppercorn, but it wasn’t there. Although the spiciness was satisfying, but it was lacking in flavours. Most of their dishes have cili and spices in it, but you can opt for non-spicy choices too. They have 4 choices altogether — Mild, Moderate, Super Spicy and Authentic Hunan flavours. So far, we have only tried their moderate level, but it was already spicy enough for us.
