Wandered in there for lunch last week, driven by a craving for some sushi and the high reviews this place has gotten so far. I left disappointed. I ordered a bunch of standard maki and nigiri, and one of their fancier rolls. All of the pieces had rice that was somehow off. Too acidic, and with an odd mouthfeel, like it had been cooked twice or something like that. So the texture of every bite was off. The quality of the fish was so-so. Not sure what possessed me to order the salmon here, knowing that salmon is not native to these waters, and being used to the high quality salmon available in the Pacific Northwest. The ikura wasn’t very good, having a bit of a fishy taste instead of that wonderfully sweet and briny, umami pop that should follow. The pepper soft shell crab roll was a poor imitation of what was in the photo, and slathered with some odd mayo sauce. The tuna roll would have been OK, if not for the odd rice. Overall, a disappointing experience, even by the standards of mall sushi.

The best sushi I ever had. The staff is very polite and the kitchenstaff is extremely seeing every details as a small bit was quickly in my mouth but with the time of making it, it was a journey to see from our spot at the table.

You might wonder why most Sushi Zanmai outlets enjoy long queues outside the entrance — it’s because it’s delightfully excellent Japanese food for seemingly unbelievably affordable prices. It’s not quite conveyor belt sushi(most outlets don’t have them) but they have an extensive menu of dishes. Eating cheap never felt so fancy!

Sushi Zanmai has an extensive menu offering all types of Japanese cuisine from sushi to ramen to curry to rice. I eat here almost regularly because the sushi is that good, but the best thing about Sushi Zanmai is the price, our bill is usually somewhere between 50−70RM for two people having a lot of decent, fresh food. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for dining options in Nu Sentral.

Sushi Zanmai is one of my favourite lunch places at Nu Sentral. I work around the area and Nu Sentral has proven to be a disappointment when it comes to food choices(I used to work in Mid Valley). Sushi Zanmai is one of the better places to eat simply because the food is good and value-for-money, although not exactly cheap. Located on the 5th floor of NU Sentral, Sushi Zanmai is near KFC, above McDonalds. The 4th and 5th floor can be regarded as the food area of the mall, but only a handful of places are worth going. Sushi Zanmai is one of them. My regular orders include the Chicken Katsu curry rice which is delicious and very good value. When I’m feeling rich, I go for their salmon sushi set which includes several types of salmon sushi, as well as my favourite Salmon Mentai sushi. Service is great and their staff are quite attentive. The sukiyaki is good too, soup is very flavourful and the portion is quite generous. My only gripe with this place is how the quality of their Mentai has dropped. I doubt they use real cod roe, and the mayo to Mentai ratio is way off. If you want to get a place, be sure to visit before 1230pm. 12noon would be the best time, just before the lunch crowd. Come anytime after 1215pm and you will need to queue.

This branch of Sushi Zanmai is probably one of the ones which is placed the highest in a shopping mall. However, it’s good since it’s opposite GSC cinema at Nu Sentral. Good for those who just want to grab a quick bite before the movie =P Meow and I were here for a movie… and couldn’t decide on what to eat. hence, we just walked over to Sushi Zanmai. The menu, decoration and the rest are all standardised. So, nothing much to comment on. We had salmon sashimi, chicken katsu curry rice, chawanmushi, hotate mentaiyaki. Okay, Meow had the curry while I had the rest =P The waiters/waitresses were good and polite, attentive too! Overall experience: 4⁄5 Price Rating: 4⁄5

I remembered coming here a few months back, craving for a big sushi platter to get my daily fix of carbs. Prices here I slightly steeper than other conventional sushi joints. However, the food made up for the prices here as I really did enjoy myself. Had my usual cucumber and avocado rolls, some vegetable California rolls, miso soup and many more. My aunt had their Sashimi and some other raw fish. She claims it to be quite fresh as she did not taste that fishy taste. She’s not a big raw fish eater, but she certainly enjoyed herself here. The atmosphere here is pretty rad as well, very Japanese-like, kinda puts you in that Zen mode. I also like that the waiters here are always on their feet and attends to the customers with sheer kindness despite the crowd that happens during lunch hours and weekends. Definitely worth coming here.

Always been one of my favourite spots here when I’m with mommy visiting, it is also because of my mom’s devoted loving towards them. You would know what kind of standards to expect from a Japanese restaurant after you try their sashimi. You can see that different places will serve different cuts with different settings. This outlet serves an alright sashimi — my so far favourite Japanese chain store serving the best sashimi is still sushi tei’s branch in ipoh parade. However, one thing to compliment about this sushi zanmai is their service, i must say that its constantly being improved — bravo! This is for sure an important factor to have returning customers and that’s the reason you always see a long queue outside this outlet. So, for those visiting, please come slightly earlier during peak hours if you don’t want to wait for that long yea!

Sushi Zanmai is a Japanese Cuisine offering restaurant. Knowing I am a huge fan of sushi, my mission is always to hunt down the best restaurants around. This place has great option, far more than some other Sushi restaurants I visited in KL. The service is good, the food gets to you fast enough, I mean sushi is usually prepared much in advance at times unless you are ordering something that needs some cooking, you’ll be happy with the fast service. recommended to all Sushi lovers! great settings for friends and family.
