Sushi Tei is not my best favourite place to look for sushi. I mean, they do have a lot of great selection of sushi, but it’s just not as tasty as the price they are putting out there. Their sashimi are pretty decent, but for some of the sushi, for example I tried the dai dai roll couple days back, and salmon was good, but the sauce they are putting on top the sushi taste way too strong and I felt the sauce more than the sushi in the end. I felt the chef doesn’t balanced properly. The chawanmushi is just ok and not a lot of sushi there are just to die for. The seating or the arrangement of the place are not the best as well, the alley where people are walking are pretty narrow and quite close to the sushi bar plus the other bigger seat. I’ve been to difference Sushi Tei branches and the one in Nu Sentral are just not the best amongst all. Definitely need a lot of improvement, and give a lot of interesting seasonal choices for customer to get their attention more.

Oh I love Japanese Food! I love sushi! I have almost tried out all the Japanese restaurant in town, of coz the Sushi Tei. Sushi Tei is also known as one of the good Japanese restaurant in town that you will also find people lining up in front of the shop especially during lunch hour. Sushi Tei is one of our favourite restaurant that I hang out with my colleagues during lunch hour for some special locations. The best part is they are also taking in reservation, unlike other restaurants which refuse to take reservation during lunch hour. One of the reason that I like Sushi Tei except its quality of food, is they serve reasonable price lunch set. The other day that i went Sushi Tei with my colleagues, I ordered this lunch combo set, which includes a miso soup, cawanmushi, and a bento serves rice topped with sashimi cubes, tempuras, salad and tofu, priced at around RM20. I think it is really worth the price! I will definitely go back to the restaurant and try out the others lunch set! :)

Despite being vegan, I LOVESUSHI. If there were anything made out of rice, nori wraps and veggies, I’d devour them without blinking. Their fermented bean rolls, avocado rolls, cucumber rolls and miso hotpot are some of my all-time favorites. Their salads are very fresh too. No wilted vegetables at sight! I also like that the ‘sushi-rollers’(sorry, but I have no idea what they’re called… raw food chefs? i don’t know) display their culinary skills so that consumers would get a glimpse into the world of making sushi. According to one of my cousins, who eats meat, their salmon is very fresh and doesn’t have that sickly fishy taste. Obviously the price range here is kinda high, but with the food they serve, it is worth EVERY cent.

They serve really fresh salmon and their set meals are always so well prepared, portioned and delicious. I am very fond of fresh salmon and tuna and I feel that they serves the freshest among the Japanese outlets like Sushi Zanmai and also Sakae Sushi. In terms of food quality and freshness, my personal opinion is that it is at par with Rakuzen. On the price, it’s slightly higher than Sushi Zanmai and also Sakae Sushi and I would willingly pay for this for a better satisfaction of my meal. Ambiance is great too, however I do feel that some outlets could have more space between seats but private rooms are absolutely perfect for gatherings. To come again again and again! They’re one of my two top spot to go for Japanese food, oishiii.

Do I love sushi or what? I have tried a few sushi places around KL so far and this is my second favourite. It has set meals, it has a la cart options, it has rice meals, noodle meals, it has pretty much everything. I loved the simplicity of the décor and the service was pretty good. Surprisingly it is also very well priced and the quality of the food is better than you would expect. I would definitely go back, which will most likely be sooner than you’d think :) The also have party packs which vary between RM37 and RM92, so if you find yourself in NU Sentral do make sure you stop by. As the restaurant is slightly on the side of the mall, the location may be a little hidden to a first comer to the mall, but do ask any of the guards around and they will point you in the right direction. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did and Bön Appétit!

There are in fact quite a number of Japanese restaurants in nu sentral, and to be frank the one that i frequent is still ozen zanmai. Only decided to try sakae sushi out as my friends wanted a change. And the very first thing i will try everytime when i visit a Japanese restaurant is to try their salmon sashimi. If they dont serve it fresh enough then maybe they are really not good enough. Fair enough, their salmon sashimi is still not bad here. Same like other stores, you’d need to use their ipads to make your orders here. Also you would need to help yourself if you want hot tea. They will only give you a zenmai tea bag and you’ll need to even dispense the hot water yourself. I guess when it’s too much of self service, it feels a bit less like a restaurant?

I just came back from my lunch. I had a Japanese moment and a great meal with some colleges from work. Because of the fact that the place is very big, you never have to stay in the q more than 5 min I love this place also because the food is served very fast and they have a huge variety of sushi. Every time I go here I order something different, because I want to try everything they have in the menu. Today I had a great soup, Soft Shell Crab Maki & Baket Salmon Maki. The food was just amazing like always. The place is great and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

If you feel like grabbing an easy to eat but not wanting to forego your love for something deep fried kind of salad, try the classic Sakae Salad: Seaweed, Eggs, Crabsticks, Tofu Skin, Jellyfish, Salmon, Cabbage and fried Tempura! I would suggest that you mix the sweet sauce that comes with it according to your liking as it can be to sweet if you pour it all one shot. Priced at below RM15, it’s super tasty with the right amount of crunch and flavors! They have bentos that very reasonably priced too, from RM18.90. Sushi on the belt is most of the time freshly made as well. The other salad I’m eyeing would be the Kaisen Salad(RM16.90). This salad comes with a variety of vegetables as well as large prawns, tuna flakes, snow crab leg and a good sprinkle of fish roe! What I like about this place is that you get membership privileges :)

Sakae Sushi has not given me any good impress ever since the first time I visited their restaurant, the food and drinks for me it’s really average, or I should say below than that, Ithought its just one particular outlet has failed me, but all outlets are giving me the same bad impression. Well, for my perspective and experience had proven I am not a big fan of Sakae Sushi, yeap they maybe using Ipad as menu, which everybody was so amazed about it, but the quality of the food is just below average, when I got the bill I feel like I would rather eat it at other japan restaurant with better service and food. still, maybe just me, but I will never ever go to Sakae Sushi for meal anymore :(

I have to say, sushi is a different experience each time, because it really depends where you go. If you are looking for something fancy, a place that has to be booked in advanvcd and a great service — you arrived to the right restaurant. In NUSENTRAL you can find Sushi Tei on the floor below, which is more expensive even though quality and service difference in not significant. Whichever place you pick you won’t be disappointed, but if you’re looking for something cheaper but still amazing — go for Sushi Tei.
