If you are standing in queue for some ice cendol at the Penang famous cendol cart, you probably are already a fan of cendol or you are a keen novice who is not scared of green goodness jelly like texture of cendol and lots of palm sugar and coconut milk. They also sell other drinks but cendol is definitely the main attraction here There is another vendor across the little street and someone mentioned that they taste the same, I didn’t try so I can’t comment. I mean average cendol are already good anyway, but here it is just delicious. Stand in queue and grab your bowl and eat it there or pop in to their sit down area just a little to their right– here you pay as you order and you can also order your Penang laksa on the same spot. Just Perfect. It’s squashy inside and can get chaotic but it’s an absolute must do when in Penang. Do it and do it often!

Whoever said this tastes like after-cereal milk is absolutely right. Delicious and definitely worth the trek. It’s along the same road as some famous assam laksa and char kway teow so if you snag a table you can order from all three at once(and skip that line!) Just watch out for the cars though. This is street-side nomming at its finest — like you might have to get up in the middle of your chendol because a car needs to back out kind of finest. Other than that, sit back and enjoy!

Omg. If you like to eat sugary cereal and then drink the milk afterwards, this is your food cart. It’s kind of like that minus the soggy flakes. And even if you don’t, a bowl of cendol only costs 2.5RM(less than $ 1USD) why not give it a shot? It tastes so good and refreshing on a hot Penang afternoon. Yes, the line is always long, even in the evening in the middle of a summer storm. But the service is super fast… watching one guy prep the shaved ice and sweetener while the other guy scoops out the green tapioca mixed with coconut milk and beans on top in two expert, lightning fast moves is like watching art in motion… delicious art. It will cost you .50RM more for a carry out container, but then you lose out on the experience of eating out of a blue plastic bowl and matching soup spoon, hovering on the street nearby with others and slurping away happily until you can return the empty bowl and spoon five minutes later. I had two bowls in one day and I ate until I was sick. But hey, who knows when I’ll be back? I didn’t bother to try other cendol places… I had no time to mess around. But maybe next time I will… maybe.

Cendol has a smokey flavor. The stall across from them also has pretty good cendol. You can order and stand around like newcomers or go sit at the tables 2 – 3 houses down(where the Rojak and Assam laksa is) and order your cendol there and they will bring to your table. Excellent cold treat on a hot Penang afternoon!

Try the durian cendol… Very delicious. Also try the ice cream cendol, interesting taste. If u are around Georgetown and in the need go stop by to have something sweet, try this shop. Afterward you can carry on to explore the city.

There are several locations, the most famous location is the cart on Penang Road. There is no seating here so most people stand and eat their cendol on the street. It is also the cheapest here. You can also get it to go in a bag. The other locations on Komtar Walk and in the KL shoppin mall are slightly more expensive, but you will seating and table service. My husband is obsessed with cendol so I have heard lots about it but never really quite understood what it is. It is a weird dessert/drink, it is coconut milk with shaved ice, jelly noodles made with pandan flavor, sugar, beans and corn. There may be other toppings depending on regional variations. It is very refreshing and tasty, especially in the Malaysian heat. I’m no cendol expert but we had cendol at every place that sold it in Malaysia and my husband thought this one was the best.

Green noodles in a dessert?!? Sounds and even looks a bit odd. But try it! It tastes delicious and it’s the perfect thing on a hot day(which is everyday). And you know it’s good when there’s a long line of people waiting for it. It’s actually a cart and the employees are working super fast, so the line moves quickly! As soon as you say how many you want and hand over the money, they’ve got a bowl of cendol waiting for you. I’m not exactly sure what it is — shaved ice with jellies and red beans and coconut milk I think, and of course the green noodles, but the combination is delicious. Try it!

Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul is well known for their dessert specialty, chendul(aka cendol). It is a dish that consists of shaved ice topped with green rice flour noodles. There are numerous locations of this shop in Penang. The one most known is the one on Penang Road. The one I visited is a secondary shop located at Komtar Walk so it is an actual storefront location. The shop is quite large. Like many eateries in Malaysia, it is open air but there is a decent breeze. And given that you likely came to eat something cold, you won’t be sweating here. Though chendul is the main attraction, they do have some food options like laksa. But you are probably here for the namesake. I have had chendul before at an Indonesian restaurant, but I wanted to try it for the first time in Penang. Another thing I wanted to try for the first time is durian. I decided to check off both of these things at the same time by ordering a durian chendul. Durian is a fruit that has a reputation that is clear cut in which you either love it or hate it. Upon trying it for the first time, I have joined the latter crowd. It tasted pretty revolting. I would describe it as eating gym socks with milk. I don’t like to waste food, but it was difficult to finish the chendul since it was massive. Didn’t help that I had a meal at KFC beforehand. Despite my distaste for this dish, I would still recommend checking this place out because of its local fame. It has nice ambiance and is a good spot to enjoy some chendul. I would consider coming here again for chendul, but not for the durian version.

If you have never been here and never tried this then you owe it to yourself to check it out. Its shaved ice with jellies and beans and corn in think and other dessert like items with condensed milk i think. They do have other dishes which I think one tasted of brown sugar.

The one and only most favourite cendol of all time is in Penang. I am living in Kuala Lumpur, and sad to say that my favourite cendol is all they way back in Penang. Cendol is a cold drink that consists of green pandan«noodles» accompanied with red beans topped with shaved ice and a fragrant gula Melaka and coconut milk. It is just a normal stall along the lorong and usually people would order and eat by the roadside, standing. But this is by far the best cendol ive ever eaten before. To add on to this, this is also the only cendol that I would eat. Surprising right? Everytime without fail I would travel to Penang and eat this specific cendol. It Is so good that you could never miss out!

As everyone know Penang is a place that have alot of nice food. At penang of course we cannot miss the chance to try on thier cendol ! The roadside cendol at penang is super delicious that a lot of people will go and queue up for 10 to 15 minutes just because of a bow of cendol! The cendol only cost RM2.50 per bowl. The uncle that sell the cendol told us that he have been selling the cendol for more than 10 years and there will still alot of people queuing up because of his cendol. And now the cendol can also be found in KL shopping mall. The cendol is so delicious that one bowl is not enough! Do not hesitate to order more as the cendol is very cheap !
