Yearly Oktoberfest in Yokohama’s Red Brick area. Been coming here almost every year I’ve lived here. Entrance fee is cheap but the beer(and food) isn’t so be prepared to spend several thousand yen or even tens of thousands of yen! I’m not a beer person, but luckily they have a wine stand and I usually buy a bottle to keep me entertained instead of having to go back repeatedly and wait in line to buy another glass. Word of advice, get there early so you can get a seat at the tables, especially if there’s a group of you, since the tables do fill up and you’d end up standing most of the evening. There’s also a live German band that plays a few songs to get the drunken crowd going, so that’s always fun. This is yearly event in Yokohama, so definitely check it out if you’re in Yokohama in October!

This is a fun beer event in a great location – a fantastic way to say goodbye to summer and welcome cool autumn evenings. The beers are mostly German but they also have a couple stands selling local craft brews.(There’s a huge tent so even if it’s raining a little, there’s a lot of seating. Not sure about heavy rain.) It’s pricey, however. Currently they’re charging 300 yen admission and both the beer and the food is overpriced – especially the food. But, then again, it’s a wild crowd as the evening gets later, the crowd gets drunker, and the band plays on. On the weekends it’s about as raucous as one can get with such a mixed group of people in Yokohama. Note that they charge 1000 yen deposit on the glasses but you get that back if you return the glasses undamaged to the right booth – so don’t get sticker shock. You’ll get some of that back.
