This is the northwestern-most gate for Chinatown(technically the north gate). It was recently cleaned up(summer 2015) so it looks shiny and new. It makes it easy to find Chinatown if you’re heading to it from Kannai or Nihonodori. None of the major gates at the entries to Chinatown are old, to my knowledge, but rather replace gates that were first built in the 1970s to attract tourists to an area that had been rather disreputable. Note the name of the gate is Genbu Gate(or Genbumon) in Japanese but Xuanwu Gate in Chinese.
