I just don’t understand why there is such a long line. Tempra is soggy and not even warm. One of those fast food tempra place is much better and reasonable.

More like 4.5 stars but I rounded up. Not sure who the fuck would compare this place to shit that you find in a food court, but anyone who does that has no fucking idea of how traditional tempura is served. There are different varieties available(hello, you’re in Japan not some stupid generic restaurant in America) — with some being the flaky/light variety and others being the the opposite. The tempura served at this notable restaurant right by the Asakusa shopping area features the latter. If you’re looking for really greasy and breaded tempura that’s served in plenty of shitty Japanese restaurants in America and elsewhere — then you shouldn’t eat here. At this place they serve a different kind of breaded tempura that’s soft and soaked in the rich signature sauce that’s featured here. The shrimps used here are tender and fresh and the sauce is savory. The whole point of soaking the rice is so that people can enjoy the signature sauce. When I got here the lines for the place were very long. There were far more locals than tourists(which is always a good sign) and my Japanese friends and myself really enjoyed our meal. I ordered the shrimp special, which featured 4 big pieces of(only) shrimp tempura on a bed of rice. It was an excellent decision. For those of you who want generic shitty American-style tempura, don’t eat here because you won’t appreciate it enough.

Don’t be fool by the long line up. I was quite disappointed… The food court tempura is better than this place and cheaper. The tempura was soggy and overly sauced. The only good thing was the rice which was too wet!
