Was looking for Gontran Cherrier and stumbled upon this place in Shinjuku station, near Odakyu department store instead. The lady who rang me up at the cashier was really friendly and spoke excellent English! She explained to me what was in the breads. All the breads I had were excellent — one with apple in it, one that looked like a melon pan, with a cookie crust, but also had caramel and nuts in it, a freshly baked one with chocolate(she kindly swopped out a piece I grabbed with one right out of the oven)… Even better than Le Petit Mec, with friendlier prices!

Yes, I give french food in Japan 5 stars! First of all, complimentary bread. Whenever Italian or French restaurants give complimentary bread, I just love them a little bit more. Three Course Meal 1. Tomato or seafood pasta 2. Fish or chicken 3. Dessert First off, the tomato based pasta was filled with fresh ingredients. But my favorite was the seafood pasta. It had incredible flavors and I used the bread to soak up the sauce. So good. Secondly, the fish was super tender, but the only thing I didn’t care for was the rice on the plate. We also ordered the chicken, which I thought tasted like pork. Does chicken in Japan taste like pork? I have no idea, but the mashed potatoes on the side were really good. Finally, my favorite of the night! CANTALOUPESORBET. Definitely made from scratch and so heavenly. The three course meal with the chicken came out to be $ 18.50, while the fish was $ 20.50. What a steal for three courses. Before we left, my grandpa wanted to take a picture of the poem that displayed on the entire back wall. Our waiter was so enthusiastic and helped my grandpa take the picture and then he offered to take our family photo. Super nice. Yes, it’s French not Italian according to Unilocal
