My brother recommended this place to my sister, and then she recommended to me. I rarely go to Shinjuku, so I was very excited to go there for lunch with my friends. The restaurant is on the 2nd fl of a small commercial building. When we went up the dim narrow stairs(no elevator), there were 6 or so people waiting to be seated outside of the restaurant. The spicy aroma filled the stairs every time the door opened. While we were waiting the menu was passed around and the staff took orders. I think we waited about 20 minutes, which isn’t too bad for Saturday lunch time. Their menu is simple and offers only«Indian inspired» curries. Chicken, eggplant chicken, tomato chicken, tomato eggplant chicken, seafood and beans. They are all under ¥1,000 yen and you can add butter or cheese on top. Also, you can choose the degree of spiciness from 1 – 10.(I’m a wimp and got 1). My friends tried 2 and they thought it was perfect. We got our curries right away. It had warm complex flavor with lots of spices and sweetness from caramelised onion. Fried eggplants and tomatoes were neatly placed on top and added nice colors. Chicken was so tender and tasty. The body of curry was very light, almost soup like texture. I give 4 stars because I’m not a fan of eating my curry and rice separately. Plates and bowls were too plain for my taste, too. Otherwise, It was definitely good and we also loved their fukujinzuke(pickled veggies), we almost empty the pickle jar!
