Super old school English-pub-like bar! Great place for foreigners to not have to worry about the language barrier. :) My group only got to enjoy one beer here because they had last call right when we sat down. Decent price point at 1000 yen(~$ 9) for a pint. Lots on tap! Cheers!

Always a great choice for the long time living foreigner that is tired of the Hub. –always rotating taps of great beers. –great atmosphere(old wood, tvs for sports) –good English pub grub. –Old school LPs. The Masta has a great selection of LPs. Just ask!

Seriously one of the most decent pubs in Shibuya. It’s a little pricey for a pint but it’s as close to home as you can get. The owner knows his stuff and you get an awesome selection on the tap. AND there’s no smoking! Woohoo! Sneak out the building for a swig if you’re a smoker yourself. Otherwise, just relax and enjoy your pint with a few mates and get pissed.

this place is great. proper as it gets in japan british pub. good music, classic pub food and 20+ taps of craft beer. has tv’s for football but its not dominating like a sports bar. all this an oasis in the middle of Shibuya! a must.

You’ll find The Aldgate 2 floors above the crazy Shibuya Streets. Given the size of the crowd we pushed through to get here, we were pleasantly surprised to find a mostly empty British Pub. We were early, mind you, and by 7.30 the place was half filled with patrons– a mix of Japanese, English, and American. The Aldgate stands proud amongst other craft beer establishments around Tokyo with a good mix of Japanese and imported craft beers. We stayed 2 rounds past the 1 we were planning as The Aldgate was just so comfortable and easy to settle into(and we were having way too much fun watching the poor bartender being hit on by one of the nerdiest Americans I’ve seen). The music is different. Eclectic vinyl chosen at random by whomever is working the record player behind the bar, but the sounds fit in well with the atmosphere. Beer is priced at around ¥1000/pint, which seems to be the going rate for craft beer in the area, and the selection is well worth it.
