I literally had dreams about this ice cream cone based off of the main photo alone. I mean, look at those delectable waves of creamy indulgence! It was almost too pretty to eat! Was that actually the case after days of longing and being consumed by wanderlust? The jury is out… As a soft serve style ice cream, it had the mouthfeel of what you’d expect, yet had a funny sweetness I didn’t expect. It was a result of the addition of condensed milk, so it was slightly left of center from what I normally expect from similar frozen desserts. It was certainly enjoyable, though, and the house baked cone was a nice element.

You may see a lot of people waiting in line for this place. Before you get in line, make sure you like condensed milk flavored ice cream as well as a cone made out of a soft, sweet cookie. I was expecting a completely different flavor and crispy cone. Overall, the entire ice cream cone is too sweet. Most people just get the soft cream from the take away window. There is an indoor café, but I haven’t given it a try yet.

Um. I love Silkream. Pretty much that simple. Shout out to fellow Unilocaler Sara C. for pointing me towards the direction of this gem located in Shibuya. I had just wrapped up dinner in the infamous«Piss Alley» and decided that I was looking for dessert nearby. We jumped on the JR and made our way through the busy crosswalk and through the multiple cross streets to reach Silkream. Everyone should note that if you are looking for a cone of ice cream, they(for whatever reason as Sara C mentions), forces you to go to the takeout window. Not necessarily a bad thing as it forces me to walk around to digest the food and forget about my gluttony. Each ice cream cone is approximately 500 Yen and well worth the price tag. The ice cream is made from Hokkaido milk and there is literally nothing like it in the US. As far as soft serve goes, using this milk is the best of the best and anyone can tell you, that I am not a huge ice cream fan typically but I inhaled this cone within minutes of receiving. The ice cream is the silkiest and most delicious and the cone is the perfect compliment with the butter of the cone. Honestly a short review but its probably my most favorite soft serve I have had at least in a long time. Delicious and highly recommend tracking one down if you are in Japan.

I do agree that the texture is very different and way more silky than American ice cream. When traveling you just have to try things and I did just that. But I love my gelatos and knowing how good it can be if you had good ones. I think coming from hawaii we are just spoiled by so many great foods and desserts that it take a lot to impress. It’s good to try but for my personal taste i still prefer my via gelato, Lucy lab from hawaii and lavender gelatos from Seattle

When I started eating this ice cream, I thought it TIED for the best ice I’ve ever had in my life(tied only with the cereal milk soft serve at momufuku in NYC)…but then once I started eating the ice cream with the cone, it was the clear winner. Seriously, as good as it gets.

Silkream, the place of my ice creamy dreams. I came here for one sole purpose — to get a taste of their delicious soft serve. Do note that if you’re coming here for the same reason, know that it’s only for take-out. Why? Who knows, but it gives you a reason to walk around Shibuya happily nursing this ice cream. You order outside where the chalkboard is. If you don’t speak Japanese, all you really need to do is say«Ah-re no hitotsu»(I’ll have one of those) and just point at the chalkboard picture. It’s 515 yen for a smallish ice cream cone, but it’s totally worth it. And I’ll tell you why. First of all, the ice cream is Hokkaido milk cream. You CANNOT get anything like this in America. It’s the creamiest, most delicious ice cream I’ve had in a while, if ever. The cone is a cookie cone — buttery and soft and unlike any cone you’ve ever bitten into. The ice cream does melt quickly, so you might want to get a spoon too. But I’m definitely planning to make another trip there before I leave.

Girls would love this place! The café is based on north European atmosphere, if I remember correctly. Came here a few times already. One time, my friend reserved the place for 8 people or so. The table was neatly set up for our big group and we enjoyed the good salad, galette and dolci.(It was like 3 years ago, so the menu may have been changed.) And another time, I saw it has the dinner course including all-you-can-eat breads, so I came here for it with my friends. All the menu tasted so good. The price was reasonable. The atmosphere was pretty and relaxing. I really like this place, but since it’s usually full, the reservation is recommended.
