A fairly new ramen shop that opened in Azabujuban. Often times, the best ramen places in Tokyo are dirty and stuffy. Ichikoro Ramen differs quite a bit. The interior is nice, trendy, and roomy. They must have spent $$ to design the décor. It is clear that they are trying to target female ramen fans. One of their selling point is that their ramen is very healthy, using collagen, which is supposedly good for your skin. RAMEN: Sorry, I did not fall in love with their ramen. The broth is made from Chicken bones instead of pig bones. This make the ramen healthier. Here is the thing. When I head to a ramen shop, I am not expecting to get a healthy meal. You need to go there knowing that the stuff is bad for you. It usually has lots of pig lard, which is the worst thing you can eat for your artillery. So, when 156 Ramen serves healthy ramen, it just does not taste so great. SOFTSERVEICECREAM: Lately, they started to market their ice cream. Why? Are they suffering as a ramen specialty shop? What is going on? The reason I did not give 1 or 2 stars is because this place is quite unique. I have to credit them for creating such an interesting place. Miho E. mentioned in her review that their brothless ramen is pretty good, so I look forward to trying it soon.
