Hotels in Tokyo are expensive, so I was surprised at how fairly cheap this hotel was compared to the ones I was looking at. This is the Villa Fontaine Nihombashi Hakozaki, and there are actually quite a lot of Villa Fontaine hotels in Tokyo. Although it’s not near the popular areas of Shinjuku or Shibuya, Suitengumae station for the Hanzomon line is a block away, so it’s very convenient. Also, the TCAT was also a block or so away, so easy access for the bus to the airport. The hotel was clean and quiet. Our rooms did smell a bit in the beginning, but quickly faded away. Our double sized bed was comfortable. I already knew Japanese hotel rooms can be small, but I was really not prepared at how small they can be. Ever been on a cruise? This reminded me of the rooms on a cruise ship, except even smaller. There’s no space for suitcases, so once you open them up, there’s no room to walk. But I really can’t complain, you get what you paid. Free breakfast is provided in the lobby. Basic food; eggs, meatballs(surprisingly good), salad, bread, and soups. Free wifi. Toiletries available which you can ask them to replenish everyday. 7 – 11 a block away. And plenty of food choices around the area too. The hotel has a list of restaurants available, so you can choose a place to eat if you don’t want to wander around. This is definitely a hotel I would consider if I’m ever back in Tokyo.
