Wonderful place in Tsukiji market to have a sushi meal. We ate at the upstairs outpost inside the market. They have a lunch special and although it was not cheap, the sushi was fresh and the food was very good.

Good quality fish without the wait. There are about four tables around the back as well as a bit of sushi bar seating. It’s along a pretty busy alleyway, and I would’ve missed it if I weren’t looking for it. I ordered the Keisei-don, which was 1330 yen. There was a large variety of fish(including uni) for this price, and I was pretty satisfied and full afterwards. My favorite was a creamy, sweet squid. The shrimp was also surprisingly sweet and creamy! I haven’t had anything like that in the US! My only qualm was that the tuna was quite fibrous and hard to chew through. Unfortunately, I had to leave that be… The chirashi bowl was one of their most popular(and more expensive at 2285 yen) dishes. Quite a unique experience of mixing half the rice and sushi with the uni and leaving a handful for the chazuke preparation. The waitress actually had to help us out with the process! The chirashi bowl came with tiny cuts of fish all mixed in, so it was more difficult to appreciate all the distinct flavors of fish. Everything tasted very fresh though! I’d definitely recommend this place to others!

I am quite disappointed about this place. We were here on January 3rd, which means the fish market was still close. The side streets with all the restaurants and small shops were partially opened, and this restaurant is one of them. After browsing the 4 streets, we decided to eat here. We were greeted by someone outside the front door. This building has 4 floors and we were sent to the 3rd floor. The menu has pictures for every item so it was easy for tourists. The food were serve quickly and we were eager to try the world famous morning sashimi rice. We were stoned by the presentation. The fish looks dull and not fresh. Perhaps because the fish market was closed for a few days so the fish weren’t as fresh. When the Japanese at the next table do not say«oishi», you know the restaurant is in trouble, because even the local do not think the food was tasty… it wasn’t cheap too. It was about 2000 yen per person. I don’t think I will eat here or recommend anyone to eat here… Take a look at the pictures I uploaded and you will see what I mean about the sashimi.
