I like this place. I don’t often stay near Tokyo Station, preferring Shiodome because of its location to Shimbashi Station. However my business gang all stayed at the Marriott Courtyard and here I find myself. Breakfast: as a Marriott Gold member you get a free breakfast at the Lava Rock. Breakfast in Japan is best if you can take an hour and enjoy it. The Japanese don’t need Starbucks to get a good brew of «joe» and they have a good idea of what a breakfast Buffett should be. I had two cups of café americana, omelet, various cold seafoods and then noticed the sausages and theeeen noticed the pastry table. Oops, easily a 2000 calorie breakfast. Thankfully I had time for a one our walk! Lunch: tried the mixed grill plate and tomato soup. This was in my diet as long as I avoided the heavy dose of sticky rice(jakken mochigome). Great meal and not so heavy. Dinner: Wagyu steak, beer and some mixed nuts. Ok, so I’m glad I didnt run the Tokyo Marathon because I would rather eat these great meals than pour my sweat in training. Thus I have no conscious what it comes to food. This dish was pricy but sooooo good. Service: you have to look hard to find bad service in Tokyo. The staff in this restaurant is tops.

I have to give them 5 stars, I am platinum with marriott so I get a great breakfast every morning and a light dinner with as many scotch drinks I want for free! That said, the staff is wonderful and friendly and the ambiance is very pleasant.

Great place is you are staying nearby. I was staying at the Courtyard and had dinner and breakfast here. It was my first night so too tired to try finding anything else nearby. Dinner was good plus, since i am gold at marriott I got a big discount on food. Breakfast was also good.

Stranded in Tokyo for a couple of weeks: Lavarock was my rock and it really rocked. I stayed at the Courtyard and as a Marriott Gold Member, I received a pass to Lavarock. They served snacks and wonderful drinks — started with beer and finished with red wine mostly — the staff was just very attentive(not obtrusive). I also went there for breakfast and the dude who cooked up the eggs and omelets was just a pleasure. Attention to detail and friendly service. Remarkable. I’ll return soon!

I just consumed an absolutely divine grilled pork chop off of the new menu. I had it with grilled asparagus. It was cooked to perfection. The asparagus was not over cooked. It comes with steak fries included. The new menu is a dramatic improvement. The portions are adequately sized now. If you find yourself near Tokyo Station, this food is worth your visit.
