Their baguette is as splendid as it was 10 years ago. I’ve had lunch and dinner a couple of times at VIRON, which, if I remember correctly, has been located in Shibuya for over 10 years. I got an ardent impression of their bread, especially the baguette. It had a wonderful aroma and was supreme. I haven’t encountered such an awesome baguette in the world since, really. So I kept it in my mind to have lunch there the next time I visited Tokyo. Since we made a reservation, we were seated immediately. However, if you visited here without a reservation, it would probably take a long time before you savored their dishes. The restaurant is in a great bustle all day long! Fortunately, the entirely satisfactory lunch was just ¥1,500 — for Poisson de jour. How affordable! The main dish was neither too strong nor too greasy. The fantastic décor and sensible service made it taste even better. IMHO, at first, you should try to eat the baguette without butter or olive oil, so that you can savor the high quality ingredients. The flour, water and salt were imported from France. The dessert should be fantastic. Consider the taste and quality, highly recommend.

I have only good things to say about this place. Although Viron has a sister shop in Shibuya, I find this one in TOKIA but the Tokyo station more stylish and graceful. The warm lighting is dreamy and the cream white with red sets the scene of a typical casual but dignified brasserie. Viron is a bakery at the front of the shop and a brasserie on the right. The baguettes here is a little sour, just how I like it and I just can’t say no to it(I’ve probably already mentioned it in the Viron review I’ve written for Shibuya). They always have so many specials for the day leaving me always torn and wish I can eat for 3. However, at the end, I usually give in to either the pork or duck. Let time I was here, I had the prawn and avocado salad for starters and the iberico pork for my main. The portion was so big that I had to leave a few pieces of pork behind. Still, I could never let myself leave without ordering a dessert and that I’m never torn. I know what I’m here for and it’s always the tarte Tatin. I love a good tarte Tatin with the apples mashed up and properly sour and stewed. Although they make it with chopped pieces of apple(not so much how I like it), it’s still hard to resist. And their vanilla ice cream on the side is just divine!
