Came here at the request of a friend as she too is a pastry chef. And having had their best chocolate/raspberry dessert, the Ambroisie, I wanted to try others. I also had the Mariee as well as Harmoni to eat in and a Mango one to take out. Unfortunately, they weren’t nearly as good mostly because I’m partial to the chocolate/raspberry combo when it comes to desserts, they were still amazing in taste and texture. Having had a few behind the scenes look on how pastries are made, you come to realize and appreciate the complex and technical aspects in the creation of desserts. Aside from their tastes, I found myself also dissecting the cakes. I took full bites of them with all the flavors together as they were intended as well as taking smaller pieces and tasting the different components of the cakes by themselves. The taste of each component were just as flavorful and deserving of appreciation. From the top glaze to the different sections of mousse flavors with in the cake to the bottom layer sponge cake, soaked in their respective flavors, you can taste the richness and quality in the ingredients as well as the skill involved in balancing out the flavors so that it’s not too sweet, not too over powering in any certain flavors that make up the whole. There are lines forming outside the store as early as half an hour before their 11am opening for people wanting to try their more limited dine in only cakes. So if you’re there for those like I was for their Ambrosie, you’ll want to be there at least an hour or so early also. By the time we finished our 3 dine in cakes and left, they were all out of it already.

Bottom line at the top: Worth the hype! Seriously incredible desserts. – Woke up insanely early on one of my last days in Tokyo to meet up with a friend to eat here. There were only a handful of people in front of us in line and the staff did a great job of setting expectations. I personally preferred the chocolate desserts to the fruitier ones but everything was exceptional. A must visit if you are a dessert lover!
