When hanging out in the Marunouchi area and feeling like having a good Ramen, «Tonari» is the place you want to remind yourself of. Their ramen is a bit different from normal Ramen(i.e., different from typical soy-sauce-based Ramen) in the sense that you have lots of stir-fried vegetables placed on the noodles and it’s a salt/papper based flavor. FYI: To be precise, it falls under the category called«Tanmen» and it’s sort of considered as a type of Chinese food rather than Ramen. Doesn’t really matter, though. In any event, they use very thick noodles that have good texture going along with the vegetables. It’s pretty filling but when very hungry, you may want to have Gyoza, fried chicken or some rice on the side. They are pretty good too. The only downside of this place is, if you go there on a weekend, you should expect a line to get in. As turnover rate of Ramen places is relatively high, you probably wouldn’t have to wait too long, though.

No matter how hard you try, ramen is never guilt less. Diabolically rich in fat, pork fat to be exact, don’t try to be healthy and enjoy ramen at the same time. You just can’t! However, if you want to have adequate nutritious intake while drinking pork soup, I suggest you to try«tan men». Just look at the picture I took. That pile of veggie. This will give you more than FDA recommended fiber intake, my friend. Soup taste gorgeous and so does noodle. But soup is so good that I don’t think I need noodle. Just soup and veggie would still satisfy me.
