This review and rating is based on the lunch here. It is excellent value with free dessert or soup. The portions are big, the food is good and the service is also really decent. The only thing I am not crazy about here is the actual bar inside, I think it is a little small and the tables are not the most comfortable. But the outside area is one of the best around on a sunny day for a pint. I would definitely recommend this place in good weather, and also for a proper lunch if you are hungry!

Walked by, took a chance and sat down for lunch. I’m writing this as I’m eating my bacon loin and cabbage because they have free wifi. Food is tasty, service was efficient. Nothing more I can ask for.

Popped in whilst killing time rediscovering Dublin after a long stint away. Walking around I saw a funny«poem» and said, «ehhh I’ll have a drink». Ended up grabbing a bite, making friends with some strangers and warming up with my hot whiskey(not typical hung to be able to do in Miami Beach). Great quick and courteous service. I was impressed with the hot whiskey presentation actually, also. I’ll be back

Delicious food, cold beer, great environment — this was probably the best place restaurant that I went to in Dublin. On a Saturday night, it can be a little tricky to find an open table in a nice pub. My friend and I wandered around until we found the Clarendon and decided to give it a try. A man, who I am assuming is the owner, was so friendly. He really made us feel at home. I took his suggestion and ordered the Guinness beef pie and was not disappointed. Even now that I am back in the states, I dream about that pot pie. The beef was fork-tender and the pastry crust was flaky, buttery, and absolutely perfect. Be prepared to have a difficult time ordering — there is such a large selection of new and traditional offerings that it is hard to choose what you want. The great food and service, paired with reasonable prices, are all set in a clean, spacious, multi-floor pub. The other patrons were friendly — drinking beers, singing songs, and cheering for their sporting teams. Whether you want to have a nice warm meal, watch a hurling match, or enjoy a cold beer out on the patio, the Clarendon covers all of the bases!

Sunday 12 August, we where attracted to The Clarendon Bar’s lunch specials. Sword fish for under € 10 with free dessert sounded great. we sat down in the sunny terrace along with other diners, we waited 10mins untill a waitress finally arrived to our table and said one word,“Yes?” — «We’d like to see menus» I said in amazement. While she went to get the menus, another diner leaned over said, «the food is good, but the service is appaling». Then the couple on our other side added, «we waited one hour for our food» — They were fuming. Having got a taste for the rude and poor service to come, we got up, thanked our fellow diners for the tip off and left.

While the food was delicious and portion huge the service here was extremely poor. It took forever to get my order in because the simplest question could not be answered(what is the chicken marinated with to make it spicy). My meal included bacon, which I wasn’t aware of because it wasn’t stated on the menu. I love bacon, but I like it a certain way, so it took me even longer to eat what I ordered. I didn’t order a Guinness here but being that I am now an expert pour-er I saw the server bring a few pints to the table next to us and it was still settling. Tsk tsk. The bathroom sink scared me. I watch a lot of horror films so washing my hands in a place where someone can reach over and grab it freaked me out. I had to hunch over when I did it. But that part is totally the fault my horror movie watching upbringing.

Huge serving of bangers and mash — good to start off day of drinking Guiness… Not greasy, awesome gravy… Topped with the best onion rings ever!

Like the chilled vibe in this place great for a rosemantic lunch and a chat food is a bit pricey and not always great, as discovered today, beef was dry, mash tasted a wee bit like smash! I’ll give it another chance though!

Cute place, ambiance was good, couple of floors. Food was just ok, sort of bland, needed more spice. Service was blah. Ok spot to grab dinner and drinks, nothing fab to write home about.

Me and my new fiancé(as opposed to all my other ones!!) threw a little casual party here last night, and had booked the penthouse bar on the top floor. Beautiful spot, especially with the sunshine. Barman was great, friendly and attentive to all the guests. We were able to bring our own playlist, which was a really nice touch, and made it that extra little bit more special. The finger food platters went down a treat, and unusually, there was almost too much food — which makes a nice change :) Would definitely recommend it as a venue, just beware — people tend to get quite lost if they dont know it, so give directions in advance to save the ‘eh guys, we’re lost…’ type phone calls!!!

Maybe it’s something about the recession, or maybe it’s something to do with the return to my no frill student life some years ago, but I found that I had forgotten how nice some bars could be. And the Clarendon is very nice. Am I showing my age to say I appreciated the décor? It’s not particularly big, but they have nice little alcoves on a couple of different levels, so while it might be packed you kind of feel you can have a semi-private conversation there. The atmosphere is kind of relaxed and the wallpaper is purple. but the drinks and food are on the pricey side and the reportage is that the portions are quite small. The music is pretty good and not to blaring But you know if you fancied a little drink and a chat on a sunny afternoon the flatscreen TVs, the funky wallpaper and all the glass might make you think you were back in the Celtic Tiger era without having ever heard of the phrase negative equity.

Great location, but this upscale bar does little to distinguish itself from other«stylish» bars in the city centre. It is, however, refreshingly laid-back, that is, if you arrive before the after-work crowd come rushing in. Fine if you get an immediate craving for a glass of red when passing by, especially if the weather is good and you can enjoy your wine outside, while breathing in the afternoon chaos in the centre.

The Clarendon Bar was turned from an old-man pub into a trendy new place. It is a nice place with comfy chairs and lots of nice little corners for a quiet chat. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed but a bit less welcoming than other places, which I will put down to the trendiness of the place. The pints are decent enough though and not more expensive than in other city centre pubs. Even though I didn’t have anything to eat here this time, I could see myself coming back here for a nice Sunday brunch to see if the food is good enough to bump them up another star.

This bar used to be an old man pub but in the good times it was revamped into a cool, trendy bar. It’s good for a drink and always busy after work for people in town. I think it’s a bit cramped and dark. You can sit outside though and on sunny days everyone mills around outside. The bathrooms are cool, when you wash your hands, it’s under a tap that connects to the gents(and to the ladies) so you’re sharing a sink between boys and girls… oooh! They also do food here, but I haven’t tried it.
