Nice pint of Guinness and decent armosphere in Sheehans, however we were pretty much laughed out of the place when we asked them to throw on the United game last night(the tv in question wasn’t even on so it’s not like we were asking them to switch). We were informed that there was rugby on. We don’t go out for a pint to get sneered at so we left and went to Hairy Lemon where they were far more down to earth. Won’t be in any hurry back — we’ll leave Sheehans to the elitist rugby crowd.

Maybe it was an off night. Maybe it was the rugby that caught the kitchen’s attention. Maybe, maybe but this was a decent pub with a friendly atmosphere and absolutely the worst food I had in Dublin. Corned beef and cabbage — terrible. Irish stew — terrible. some sort of shepherds pie — terrible. Irish food can be wayyyyyyy better than this. There was neither taste nor texture. So I’d suggest if you’re in the neighborhood, go for a pint. But leave your appetite at the door.

The perfect pub food with a lively atmosphere that’s not too loud and perfectly lit. We had a truly memorable meal of Shepherd’s Pie, Beef Stew and two perfectly heavenly pints of Guinness. If you are traveling abroad and you have kids, this place is fun and casual. Highly recommend it, cheers!

Love this bar! Every time I come to Dublin I visit this bar. I brought my sister and her two kids there for dinner tonight. They did not have a kiddy menu but they accommodated us with off the menu kiddy items. The staff are just delightful. I highly recommend this bar for food and drink!

Popped in for a a few drinks, nice atmosphere, traditional Irish pub, friendly staff. It’s one of those pubs where men are meeting up for a few beers while watching a ball game, nice pub. Very central location.

I’d never even noticed this place before, never mind been inside. It’s gorgeous. Like an old country cosy pub but in the middle of town. It does have a slight tourist twang off it but not a saccharine begorah type one. More of a comforting level of old man bar with new world edge. They’ve got a whopper selection of whiskeys which seals the deal and a great pint of Guinness. I liked the second level the best as it was the cosiest in my opinion. Would defo go again on a nice quiet little Sunday session.

Tonight I went to Sheehans with my BFF… 1* For the ambiance: We waited at the bar with some refreshements and a table cleared out. We sat on a bench — which btw was very comfy — with view on the rest of the room. We went around 8pm, it was not too busy, we could hear ourselves and that was perfect. 1* For the staff: Manager Brian is the best. He is so nice and make you feel at home. My friend knows him well but still. Another staff — Italian — was super nice too ! We really enjoyed ourselves :) 1* For the food: The Grafton Burger is highly recommended ! Just perfect. My friend asked for no lettuce, no tomato, no onion. I asked for hers to be added to mine minus the onions ;) 1* For the place: warm place, quite central, 2 steps from Grafton st. Taxis near by as well. Perfect ! 1* For the experience: I will go back definitely. It was so relaxed and fun. Great end to a stressful day ! Loved it ! Please let me know your thoughts about the place. See you there: D

Decent pub with a decent crowd in a decent area with a good beer selection and decent(read: any possible) seating on the main floor on a Saturday evening. Failed to leave much more of an impression on me than that, other than noticing there were a decent amount of locals. I’ll likely give it another try at some point.

Middle of the Temple area, we walked in. I noticed the guy had an Italian accent. Sure enough him and some of his friends were all Italian. But…some of the BEST Irish food in the area! Try the Guinness and beef pie! Yes! Very delicious! Beef was tender and the top crust was light and flaky!

We tried this pub, based on the Unilocal reviews: definitely one of our better pub meals in Dublin! I had the corned beef, cabbage, and mashed potatoes … Excellent. My wife had the Guinness and beef pie … also excellent. Naturally, we each had a pint of Guinness … is it possible to get a bad ‘pour’ of the Black Gold in Dublin? This was another location that served this stout just right!(Just to make sure, I had a second pint … just as good as the first.)

Looking for a late dinner, some friends and I found Sheehan’s. The menu was a great example of Irish Pub Grub, too much to try on a single visit. We shared the fish and chips as an appetizer and it was outstanding. On our waitress’s recommendation we had the Corned Beef and Cabbage, served over mashed potatoes with a creamy gravy. It was very good, despite needing some seasoning. Highly recommend!

Was looking for some authentic Irish eats when we stumbled upon Sheehan’s. The atmosphere has an authentic old world feel without being dark and smokey. In fact, being on a corner with big windows on both sides provides lots of light as well as a great people watching venue. The staff were friendly, with a not too much in a hurry way about them. Which is good if you aren’t in a rush, but could be a problem if you are going somewhere soon. The menu includes some classic dishes that didn’t disappoint. I had the hearty Irish stew. They don’t skimp on the beef, which was tender and flavorful with a nice broth that wasn’t too salty or thick. It had a good amount of vegetables in the broth as well as a dollop of mashed potatoes. My wife had the fish and chips which came with a good size piece of lightly battered cod. It was hot and flavorful with a side of crispy chips that were perfectly done. For dessert we had the apple pie. It had a thinner crust than a typical American apple pie and was not as sweet. I liked that it was a lighter dessert than the American version and almost seemed healthy. Ok, well sort of. One thing I liked most about Sheehan’s was the ratio of locals to tourists. There were tourists yes, but many more locals. And if locals frequent this place then you know it’s good. Overall, I would definitely recommend Sheehan’s to locals and tourists alike.

What a great pub to stop in for a pint or two in the evening! It’s a beautiful bar with a good amount of seating on the main floor(the only part open when I was here) for the size. The bar man always remembered what we had the time before and made a point to bring the drinks out to where we were sitting rather than making me stand up at the bar and wait. Really a great place to sit down and have a conversation with a friend or in a small group. A very old fashioned looking and working pub, and very neat to go to after being to so many ones that are trying to be half-clubs or modern, hip bars.

I ran across this place totally by accident one weekend while strolling through the city. It is a great spot and my only regret is not finding it sooner. It has all the décor of a classic Irish pub, plus friendly bartenders and the kinda pub grub you find on the west coast. I stumbled in on a night they also had a bit of trad going on, so that was an added bonus.

Holy staircases batman!!! A couple of me auld familiar Unilocalers ended up here after having a shitty experience at a fancy pants establishment next door. We were starved hungry and just looking for some«dry packing» for a nights drinking ahead at Temple Bar. Fair play, the bartender sent us upstairs where a somewhat dry humored but absolutely efficient waitress took care of us. The Guinness was great as was the Beef in Guinness Pot Pie it washed down. Downstairs was definitely more happening than upstairs but when you have 6 in your party on a Friday night during happy hour, you take what you can get.

This is definetly a nice Irish pub. Me and a few Irish natives had a much and a few drinks here. And I couldn’t believe it… they had salads. I haven’t had a salad since moving to London from the USA. Why don’t we have salads in London? Why batman why? I wouldn’t say this is the wild Irish bar that we hit after we ate, but definetly a nice places to have a few and drink. It was still early when we left, so could have gone mental in the wee hours.

My belief is that they positioned the stairs down to the bathrooms as a sobriety test — Try not to take that poor guy sitting at the top down with you! We hit this place twice in 3 days, the first for a quick pick-me-up pint before noon, then again for a late supper/pint before our travel day. Both times had pretty much the same experience: Nice staff, pleasant but staged environment, timely service, just OK food. As with many like-places in this area, great for drinking, less for eating. But boy does it it look nice!

This is my quintessential image of a quaint Irish pub. Small, intimate and a little more on the classy side of one’s image of a pub. After much deliberating on the menu, I chose the Irish stew, it did not disappoint; large portion and it was perfect. Accompanied with soda bread, which was delicious(yes, soda bread!). Great place to rest one’s legs from walking the city and get warm while enjoying a Guinness. The service was good, and prices inexpensive. Be sure to stop in if you’re hungry and want to rest a bit!
