I had gone to the kylmore for years as it was handy for a breakfast before work or somewhere to go for my lunch a change from McDonald’s and the other fast foods but I found the kylmore has gone down in food quality and service and is very pricey for what you get! The food is rubbish and way to over priced I would rather go to a fast food place. There’s much nicer little cafés around for half the price and much better quality.

I am tired of having to write negative reviews! Some places decide to provide people with warmth and pride despite the hard times and they stand out. Others, like Kylemore in the shopping centre, know they will always get customers and don’t seem to care. Having recently acquired a baby and all it entails, I don’t have as many choices for coffee and food as I used to. I go where there’s room for a buggy and where the staff doesn’t give me the evil eye and have that ‘mothers should stay at home’ air about them. Service here is unbelievably slow even when you’re the only customer being served. The place is a bit crummy and always a bit dirty… which is ironic considering you are always being bothered by the cleaning staff! Food is blah, but I didn’t expect it to be brilliant, no surprises here. On the plus side, there’s room, and there’s a great view.

Yes OK, not the greatest quality food if you were to be very objective about it but in truth I quite like it — basic, a bit greasy but tasty, I could probably say the same of the coffee too! But this place has two or three things going for it that earn the 4 stars 1. Not expensive 2. Very friendly and helpful staff 3. The view over Stephens Green and the top of Grafton st which would probably be enough to earn the 4 stars on its own. Kylemore will never be known for the quality food, but for a quick bite and a leisurely read of a book or just a coffee it is really very pleasant. Back in the days when I was concerned with such things I noted there is a small child feeding area where mums can feed unobserved or if you just want to get food down them without distraction — happily those times are behind me now but we did use it on occasion and it was great!

Kylemore is just a big disappointment, the food is disappointing, it seems the staff have a horrible chip on their shoulder and their stuff is really expensive for what you get. I’ve complained here about bad service and problems with the food(I won’t go into the manky detail) and although I was refunded, I found the staff pretty unaccommodating in the matter. Also, it’s really difficult to mess up a cup of coffee. I’d drink a cup of old gravy if there was caffeine in it. Yet they manage to screw it up.

There’s not much I can add, Kate’s pretty much spot on, except maybe to talk about the view. It’s great if you can get next to the windows, right at the tip top of Grafton Street looking down over Stephen’s Green. Nice. The leather seats are insanely comfy too. Great for a cuppa and to escape that oppressive«I’ve been in a shopping centre for more than twenty minutes» feeling. You know the one, the stuffy one. But its no great shakes really.

I am slightly confused, as on the Kylemore website it says Kylemore is part of ‘Foodlife’ which is basically the upstairs food court in Stephens Green Shopping Centre, yet I also came across it as Kyloemore restaurant too. So I shall simply refer to it as Kylemore… It’s basically a big open area on the first floor of the centre with a couple of sandwich/fast food/smoothie counters and then a Kylemore café. Kylemore has all the usual stuff you’d expect like hot dinners, salads, cakes and tea and coffees and it does what it appears to do — feed shoppers. The food’s grand. Country people will probably love it, and the oldies are very fond of their tea and cream cakes. I only like going there because there’s lots of seats and it’s right at the top of Grafton St, so you can kill some time there, or arrange it as a meeting spot.
