Like its Gough Street sister, this location of Sama serves up piping hot bowls of curry in three flavors, tomato, coconut, and prawn. On top of this, diners choose their level of spice, from 0 to 30. With the curry come options of meat or vegetables ranging from pork to seafood to vegetarian. The generous bowl of curry is served with a plate of rice. There’s also a selection of drinks available, however this location does not yet have its liquor license. A level 15 curry consisting of tomato soup base & seafood option was quite spicy, and this from someone who enjoys spicy food. However, the 15 was not too much to take. There is a wall containing Polaroids of those who have completed the challenge of finishing a bowl of level 30, but that might leave the diner with a less than flavorful experience. Level 15 spiciness maintains that delicious flavor to balance with the spices, which did not obliterate the dish. A fresh mango juice completed the meal nicely.
