After missing this Korean-originated ice cream shop in Seoul, its been my mission to try to the one in Hong Kong! Softree is a very popular ice cream chain in Korea, and apparently was the first to offer honeycomb ice cream; which is now a commonly used topping offered by many ice cream places. They only offer one type of ice cream; Hokkaido Milk(organic). But they offer a few different types of toppings. I ended up trying the Guerande Sel(Chocolate Salt). Their ice cream is milky, but a little lacking in flavor. The chocolate was squirted on top of the ice cream and a layer around the soft cone. They only offered cup or the soft plastic-ey cone. I usually prefer waffle cones, but doesn’t seem like its offered here. The chocolate and salt wasn’t too overpowering initially, but toward the end of the cone, it’s all I could taste. It’s not bad by any means, but for $ 42HKD, there are much better ice cream places around(figuratively and literally around there). Sadly I think I actually prefer the soft ice cream served at the ice cream trucks for 1⁄3 the price. Neat thing they do offer however is the bite size cone for $ 9, a cool option I’ve never seen before!
