Hip little Japanese curry joint, slightly modified to western tastes. They have 5 ranges of spice to cater to all levels and for a spice-lover with a normal human tolerance, level two is perfect for me to eat enjoyably but with the kick. Easy to order: the menu is basically a Curry/Tomato Sauce Choice + Protein/Vegetable + Sides Combo. They give you a LOT of sauce, so your rice will be swimming in the sauce, which is awesome actually, versus other more delicate ahem* stingier, Japanese curry places. The tonkatsu is solid and portions generous, the other meats are decent as well and you can add some vegetables(cabbage, corn etc) as sides if you are looking for fiber. There are full salads on offer, and full vegetarian curry is also possible, as my Indian friend found out(and liked); the fries are nothing special, save space for other stuff. I find the flavors heavier, tangier and slightly sweeter than the usual Japanese curry, which I like. I’ve tried all the other Japanese curry spots in Causeway Bay, and this is now the only spot I hit up if I’m craving for Japanese curry. A meal with a drink will set you back a bit less than HKD200, not a bad deal for lunch/dinner in Causeway Bay.

Let me give this place a 3 stars. First, there is this hype for eating Japanese, and Japanese curry plus meat and nice cool tiger logo design is just so cool. I have wanted to come here for a while. It happened I am alone tonight and wandered around here. This is a good type of food to even eat alone. And they did design the place to serve some lone wolf, or lone tiger in this case. I have to say, the menu is not easy to understand. But soon when you figured out, it is actually not bad. I have picked the recommended Hungry Tiger to feed myself of my hunger. It looked kind of small, but it actually pretty filling. The Japanese rice is round and soft. Curry well cooked like he usual curry sauce, different from want the Sama curry at central, this is the traditional Japanese curry. Surprised that they did not ask for spicy level, probably not adjustable. The hungry tiger was actually only so so, I trusted that individually order would have been better. The problem with the dish is that they put fries on top. The fries are nothing special, but it fills you up, mob your rice and meat of the curry sauce and making it hard to navigate the food around. Chicken tastes good. Beef burger meat is ok. Pork was nothing special. The sausage taste okay but too little too few. And way add a bone back when sausage is designed to remove the bone. They serve beers and wine and sake. Probably best to avoid it. Don’t think the environment is that targeted for alcohol. If you really want to drink, beer is okay, but standard Japanese draft is expected. Service is so so. Efficiency oriented. However, the food took longer than expected to arrive. Overall, I might come back but not too amazing.

My favorite Japanese curry restaurant in Hong Kong, sure it’s more expensive than the norm but the curry is really to my liking. The pork is deep fried to perfection and the curry has the right balance of sweetness and a little bit of spice. Always order with a side of scrambled eggs to be placed on top of the dish. A must try for Japanese curry lovers!

Not a big fan of Japanese curry but I like what they’ve done here. Good location, easy english menu and good simple selections. I personally prefer the tiger salad, rice curry with pork and the cheese Mochi to start. Friendly attentive staff and most speak English Good spot if your in the mood for Japanese curry

I’m a sucker for pretty things and this shop is very pretty. Very modern and clean looking and quite inviting. Stepped in for a quick late lunch and the service was great, however the food was just MMD(ma ma dei). The drink and salad addition was a waste as the salad looked sad with only 3 tomatoes and 15 corn kernels atop some lettuce. The actual curry was also just ok. To me, everything was very sweet tasting. The pork chop tasted like a large Chicken McNugget(which actually I really enjoyed) but the curry was just too sweet for my liking. Decided to splurge on $ 30 kim chi which was also disappointing. It was too ripe and again, had a sweet tang to it. All in all, I wouldn’t make it a point to go back, but I also wouldn’t say no in eating here again.

spicy comfort food with complex curry recipe but didn’t knock my socks off, but promoted as 26 spices to be exact, and none of which are MSG. crispy fried tonkatsu pork.

Japanese curry sets apart from curry renditions from rest of the world from its mild spice flavor and sweetness, making it seem like a sweet gravy over rice. Tiger curry is a restaurant that specializes in just that, but with a mish mash of cheap and cheerful side dishes made for sharing. The main dish, obviously, is the curry. The sauce is standard Japanese curry sauce served piping hot over chewy Japanese rice. Traditionally Japanese curry is served with fried breaded pork chops but the must-try in this restaurant is their shaved shabu shabu beef curry. The beef is first boiled separately and placed over the curry sauce, along with a side of pickles to cut the grease and add crunch and texture to the dish. Wash it all down with beer and artisanal soda and you got yourself a happy meal for adults. The catchy camouflage exterior and stylishly-cheerful interior shows that this restaurant is trying to attract the young hipster crowd. And it succeeded– at any given day the restaurant is filled with students(being near a few schools helps) and expat hipsters. Bottomline: the décor, the pickles and the ginger ale
