Renaissance Harbour View Hotel

Used points to stay two nights at this Hong Kong-​side hotel. 5 – 10 minute walks to MTR and Wan Chai Star Ferry. Numerous construction sites on the harbor shore resulting in many detours. Unusual March weather was a nice 70 degrees Fahrenheit with minimal humidity. Shorts and short sleeved shirt for us SF Bay Area folks while local folks were wearing down jackets and sweaters. Nicely appointed gym.
Upgraded to a beautiful harbor-​view room and access to the 40^th floor Club Lounge on Gold Elite membership. Great breakfast buffet in the Club Lounge featuring Cantonese and Western dishes. Loved the chicken and thousand year old egg rice porridge — Jook, multiple juice choices of mango, guava, watermelon… Choice of eggs or Omlette. Helpful lounge staff directed us to various transportation locations and stops.

First time staying here last week and it will not be the last. I’ve fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your view of business travel) had the experience of staying in many Marriotts globally and this location would be in the top 3 without question. Easy ride from the airport, took about 30 minutes with average traffic.
The reception desk and check in was the best I’ve ever experienced, from friendliness, ease, and speed. This even included the insistence of an escort to my room to show me the features and make sure I was satisfied. Let’s be clear, I’m no one, they just did this because their service is incredible.
The room was much more spacious than I ever expected and included a very nice sized bathroom and full sized shower.
The concierge room is a beautiful multi level fully serviced get away at the end of the day with great food and drinks. The staff there was also kind and very helpful.
Great hotel, great location with easy access to the heart of the city.

We had a twin room with harbour view. The rooms are small but very comfortable and super clean. You will be out exploring all day and won’t spend that much time in your hotel room, except for sleeping and showering, so that’s all you need. That’s also pretty standard in an overpopulated HK. Good choice of restaurants within the hotel and the food and service was very good. The reception staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is very central and a walk away to Chai Wan Park and the city. I would recommend.

I’ve stayed at this location twice, once on the club level and in a standard room for our most recent stay– both experiences were top notch. I stay in a lot of Marriott properties for work and this met or exceeded the standard of them all.
The Club level lounge is the best lounge I’ve encountered. They serve a vast array of Chinese and Western options for breakfast, offer snacks for afternoon tea and starting at 5:30 put out a cocktail spread that doubled as our dinner most nights during our stay.
It’s a five minute walk to the Wan Chai Star Ferry pier and 10 – 15 (all inside/​covered walkways) to the Wan Chai MTR station.
Take the Airport Express train to the Hong Kong station and there is a FREE shuttle bus to this hotel.
While our club level room was stunning our room on the 24^th floor was very well appointed and comfortable too. The service was white glove, down to turn down service in the evenings.
We received a bottle of wine sent to our when cocktails were crowded in the club lounge, on New Year’s Eve no less.
When I visited the business center to purchase a box to mail a few things home they found a box that was the perfect size, free of charge.
It’s the little things that made this stay feel like home. It’s a great spot for a business traveler or even better, if you are in Hong Kong just for fun.

Excellent breakfast buffet at the M floor M Café. Staffs are always wonderful and nice. Waitress and chef like Dorothy, Chloe, Nadia, Chef Ching & Chef Singh are always helpful and polite. I enjoyed seeing them every time I eat there. Keep up the good work.
40/​F Member Club lounge staff is NOT so friendly. (You will thought they will be more friendly and nice). No one ever greet me at the member club lounge. No one ever ask if I want any coffee or tea. We will need to go make our own coffee or tea at the machine. Which I have no clue how to use them. Whereas I remembered way back when they will come and greet and ask if we want anything to drink. Staff are always talking loud among themselves. Need more professional training done at the member club lounge.

Au niveau d’un hôtel international, propre, efficace et sans âme. Le sourire existe mais il est purement commercial. La nourriture est moyenne, sans plus. Au petit déjeuner, par exemple, les œufs sur le plats sont fait a l’huile d’olive et pas assaisonnés. Bref, allez y pour la vue, la vue et la vue. Pour le reste, ben il y a plein d’autres endroits qui valent le coup.

Outstanding hotel. I always try to stay here whenever I am in Hong Kong.
Location is great. Good view right on the harbor looking across to Kowloon. Short, easy walk under a covered walkway from the nearest MTR station. Water taxi is right near the hotel as well. Makes it easy to get to Kowloon or any other areas of town.
Rooms are crisp and clean with good views across the harbor. If you have lounge access, they offer an outstanding array of food and drink options at breakfast, high tea, and dinner. The restaurant’s breakfast buffet is also outstanding. All varieties of eastern/​western food and all are great.
Staff is outstanding as well. Very attentive, courteous and helpful. From the taxi queue, the front desk, the concierge, the lounge, and management, I have been impressed with all of them. On my last trip in March of this year, Thomas Pui, senior guest services officer, was very helpful beyond expected levels.
The only downside is that it is expensive, but then again what hotel isn’t expensive in Hong Kong. Especially one with all that this has to offer. I will definitely return when I am back in Hong Kong.
Overall, one of my favorite places to stay throughout the world.

The Renaissance Harbour View Hotel was our basecamp during my first trip to Hong Kong. My boyfriend had stayed here with his family prior and the view from our hotel room on the 35^th floor was the best part of staying here.
The service was immaculate and every part of the hotel felt clean, new, and on top of that, smelled great. We even ordered room service twice and both times were impressed — dinner one time with Hainan Chicken and Congee (yum!), and a second time with the dim sum and congee breakfast (equally delicious!). As a side note, room service here is definitely cheaper than room service at any hotel in the US and the food was pretty darn good, especially if you’re stuck in the hotel because of crazy storms happening outside.
Internet was a little iffy but for the most part it worked. The channels were a little lacking in my opinion on the television but you shouldn’t be in Hong Kong to watch tv anyways.
If you’re staying here for business, it’s a perfect location because it’s near the convention center. You can get here via the Wan Chai station through the MTR which is all connected via a bridge but approximately a 10 minute walk from the hotel (not super close).
Relatively close to this location is a Café de Coral (similar to a Denny’s), a Subway, McDonald’s, and a ridiculously good egg waffle spot right below the bridge near the MTR.

Nice rooms. Beautiful view of the harbor. Staff is friendly. Everything was clean and newer. The Internet was pretty lousy though making work very difficult.
The food in the restaurant downstairs was pretty gross. And $ 14 USD for one of those little tiny half bottles of coke was ridiculous even for Hong Kong. Expect to PAY and expect a standard Marriott style place. It won’t blow you away but you won’t be grossed out either.

Ich kenne das Renaissance Hotel nun schon seid 20 Jahren, damals noch unter dem Namen «New World Harbour View». –Ich war sicher schon 10 Mal Gast in diesem Haus. –Und, ich komme immer wieder sehr gerne!
Die Hafensicht von den Zimmern aus ist sensationell! Das Personal ist aufmerksam und der Pool im 11. Stock ist einer der schönsten Pools die ich kenne. Das Beste aber zum Schluss: Ich habe schon viele gute Frühstücksbuffets gesehen und erlebt und ich bin der Meinung, dass hier das allerbeste Buffet überhaupt angeboten wird! –Ich komme wieder!

How do I love thee, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel? Let me count the ways…
1. Location, location, location! This hotel seems to be a favourite among businessmen attending functions at the adjacent convention centre, but it’s well situated for leisure travellers too. The Wanchai pier for the Star Ferry to Kowloon for a mere HK$ 2.50 is steps away. A 5 – 10 minute walk via the covered footbridge will take you to the Wanchai MTR station, Lockhart Road and the Wanchai Computer City (for all your electronic needs).
2. Our room wasn’t very high up, but we still enjoyed the unobstructed harbour view of the Kowloon skyline and mountains, as well as some of the skyscrapers on the Hong Kong side. Absolutely amazing. It ain’t called the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel for nothing!
3. Our superior suite was modern, comfortable and decently sized with floor-​to-​ceiling windows, all the needed amenities and a nice welcome gift… but the bathroom deserves the highest commendation. Who doesn’t love a big bathroom?!
4. The Executive Lounge on the 40^th floor offers an even more stunning panoramic harbour view. The food? They serve the usual breakfast but there’s an added egg-​cooking station every morning — uncommon based on my previous lounge experiences, but great! In the evening, they have canapés and complimentary cocktails, while the same egg-​cooking station is transformed into a live crêpe-​making station.
5. The stretching room in the 24-​hour fitness centre has Swiss balls, yoga mats, light weights, fitness books and more — it’s like being in your own fitness studio!
6. From check-​in to check-​out and from the lobby to the lounge, we were greeted with smiles and genuine kindness from the staff. They had no problems with our early check-​in at 10am. Upon our arrival, we found a nice welcome gift complete with a handwritten card. There was also a mishap with our bathroom, but this was taken care by a housekeeping staff member immediately.
Easily one of my best hotel experiences!

This hotel has an amazing location, and the harbor view rooms aren’t messing around. The staff were very welcoming.
The fitness center quite nice.
The view from the executive lounge (and the buffet breakfast) was amazing.
We actually needed to on the fly grab two more nights, sadly the Ren. was booked up so we hoofed to the JW Marriott (see that review).
I would have been super happy to go back to the Ren. for a few more nights.
If you’re in HK for an event at the Convention Center, the Ren. is one of the hotels directly connect, making it immensely convenient.
