Yep this is a great coffee shop for your wifi-craving, coffee-loving, food-needing self while in Amsterdam. The place is nice and chill with plenty of seating and some great food. My wife loved each of the lunches she had and my breakfast toastie was great. The owner is super nice(and so is his dog) and the music they’re planing in the spot is great. What more could you ask for in a coffee hangout? Thumbs up!

Best breakfast café in Amsterdam! Now called Fredrix. Same owner. Same menu. Same great staff.

First visit here to the now renamed Frederix: I’m particular about good espresso. I had an iced latte for the hot day, but it was so good and authentic(not pre-processed) that I’m confident the espresso would be great, too. A latte, made with care right in front of me, and some large ice chunks to cool it down. With the in-house bean roasting(placed attractively in the middle of the café), my confidence gained a further, positive shot. The open kitchen is a nice touch as well, although I haven’t eaten here yet. We sat in the tree-covered Frederiksplein square across the street because the large picnic table in front was mostly full. Inside there is a surprising amount of space to relax: in a pair of four, leather two-seat sofas up front or in a dozen or more tables and bar-style workplaces in the back. Atmosphere was bright, with natural light in the summer, and relaxed.

****CHANGEDNAMETOFREDERIX***** Quite an enjoyable breakfast here! Disappointed not to find any organic pain au chocolate, but the almond cookie I had instead was lovely. Latte was so good I had two. My son’s cappucino was also quite tasty. But the breakfast tosti was perfection and the blueberry waffles could only have been improved by MORE blueberries! Great ambience and thus a winner all around.

They renamed it to Frederix. The staff are amazingly nice. Well decorated coffee shop that isn’t too crowded. I had their cold summer coffee and it was amazing. Damn now I wanna go back there!

– As of mid 2015, it’s called Frederix! Two For Joy at Frederiksplein is one of my favourite places in the city. «Gezellig» is a good definition for its atmosphere. Their coffees and teas are great, and they also have a very nice selection of cakes, toasties and lunch options. It’s not very tourist-friendly, since it only accepts pin cards — but that’s a good thing if you want to get away from them anyway! Free wifi available, and friendly staff. I love this place!

Great teas. Awesome lentil soup. Nice atmosphere. Great to work in. Some electric plugs. Natural light. I didn’t eat the baked breads and cakes but they look great as well

A great hipster option for a great breakfast in Amsterdam, the Pain au chocolat are just amazing and make you want more and more. I also tried the blueberry muffins and the are very tasty. In 2 days in Amsterdam we came back here instead of trying something new(which Unilocal is all about). Relax and enjoy this great place. Ps: they only accept credit card and their prices are very affordable.

My all time favorite coffee house in Amsterdam. It’s small and can get really crowded, especially when the parents flock in right before or after their kids are released from the school across the street, but the staff are efficient and always SUPER friendly. There are always international people around, both in customers and staff. They are happy to speak English with you! Nice seating area inside with a long table with outlets along a back wall if you want to bring your laptop to study. Great soy lattes, and they also offer drip coffee, an infrequent find in Amsterdam. I also suggest taking home a bag of their own coffee bean blend. I love the chutney they serve with their toasties, too. The banana bread is deliciousl, and they give you an enormous slice! Overall, super friendly and relaxed staff, cosy atmosphere and fantastic coffee. I miss it now that I’ve moved back to the US!

A cosy, hip and trendy-without-trying place that attracts all kinds of interesting people/The team are super friendly and the ambiance is relaxed. You can work from here(free wifi) and enjoy a lovely coffee and cake(Banana Bread and the Carrot Cake are lush). They also have a small lunch menu which is good if you’re working and don’t want to head somewhere else. If you’re not a coffee drinker, try their Hibiscus Tea with Grape Juice — deliciously refreshing whatever the weather!

I like this place. It can be quiet, it can be very busy… the atmosphere is most of the times as you would hope. It’s definitely a place where you want to bring someone to catch up, work on a project or simply be alone and read a good book. It’s all about vibes and energy of the people working at a place, and I personally like what they are doing here. Recommended.

These guys know their coffee! You can have it prepared a million different ways. It’s a cute, tiny, cozy little place. Only downside is that while the staff are super nice, they can get overwhelmed and flustered if it gets even a little busy(which it usually is on the weekend). This means confusing orders and everything taking just a little too long. But if you’ve got time to spare(e.g. have some writing to do), definitely take a seat and enjoy this lovely place. Free wifi as well!

I found this golden place on the last days I was in Amsterdam. If not, I think it would have become one of my favorite spots for brunch or breakfast. They roast their own coffee and cook some food, you can get an aero press coffee and a glutenless pastry, hipsters paradise ! Fortunately, the crowd is friendly and relaxed. Next time in town, I’ll come back.

Super cozy environment, good cakes and amazing staff, language-wise and in service speed. It’s one of those cozy places that are perfect to chit-chat with some friends over some coffee. Bonus point: one of the cleanest cafes in Amsterdam I have visited.

Two for Joy is a great place for morning or afternoon coffee. The medium-size table they have out front is fun communal table where you can enjoy some good conversation. I have had the soy flat white as well as the espresso. The flavor of their coffee is really good. The staff there always seems nice and in a good mood, and the people I’ve talked to sitting around the table are always happy. If you get lucky enough to catch the sun in the morning it’s beautiful quiet spot to collect yourself for the day.

When a coffeeshop has the roastery in the back, you know you’re in the right place. You’ve found a little blue bottle in Amsterdam. That’s what I thought when I discovered Two For Joy. Friendly folks, very hip spot, nice glass skylight in the back. Couldn’t get the wifi working, but had more fun chatting with folks anyway. They also hooked me up with all sorts of other recommendations — headfirst, coffee bru, espresso fabriek, casa brazuca & koko coco. But one mystery remains… how did they know about lot61?

I love this place. It’s kinda tucked away and easy to overlook, but very spacy inside. They have chesterfield couches inside and they are really nice, I could sleep on them! Love the coffee at this place. They have their own brand of beans. I fell in love with the lemon meringue pie. SOGOOD! Also, if you are hungry: get the breakfast toastie! It is delicious! Bacon, cheese and scrambled eggs on a toasty served with some sort of delicious spiced Indian chutney! They also have fresh juices, croissants, pastries and even a bean stew if you’re really hungry.
