My friend Marios is all about the great little places of Amsterdam. One of his favourite coffee and lunch spots is a cute one in the bustling Utrechtsestraat: Zuivere Koffie, literally: ‘pure and clear coffee’. This small place with wood and vintage dishware is like a comfortable ticket to the past. It’s hundred percent laptop-free, the women that run the place chat with each other and their guests, the house cat gently passes by. In the middle of the place there’s a table with home-made pies that will make your heart skip a beat: apple pie, carrot cake, date pie and a pecan pie. Marios urged me to eat the date pie, but I couldn’t resist the one with pecan nuts, orange and maple syrup. So glad I surrendered. The combination of pecan with sweet and fruity ingredients is much better than the usual pecan-caramel merger. This crown jewel is fresher, lighter and ‘sunnier’. Best eaten on the little garden terrace, the other hidden gem of Zuivere Koffie.

This is such a cute café. You can sit close to the patio or window where you get wonderful day light. You have a wide range of choices for breakfast. I had the omelet with serano ham and Gorgonzola and it was absolutely amazing!!! And good prices as well!!! It was worth a 20 mn walk.

This is an amazing find — a beautiful café/casual restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. I visited with my mother for breakfast and we were not disappointed. We both had one of the Italian bread roll sandwiches, which were incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. They were made fresh and were actually very healthy, simple sandwiches. My mother had a Mocha coffee and I had a banana yoghurt shake, which was, again, delicious. The real kicker, however, were the homemade pies. We tried the pecan pie and apple pie, and both were divine. Absolutely amazing breakfast and incredibly kind service.

Sweetest owner, and there’s a little cat that inhabits the place as well. Beautiful, quaint little caffe with an adorable outside seating area for when it’s warm. I had two lattes, large ones and was given some carrot cake for free. Got to play with the kitty too definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

My wife and I ate here for a late breakfast/brunch after sleeping in from a late night. This café was very welcoming and we had great quiche, coffee, and orange juice. Excellent service with quaint, quintessentially European atmosphere.

I’m happy to have finally found a cozy little café to escape to. The patio is lovely when the sun is out but if it’s raining you’re limited to siting inside which is just as pleasant. The menu is simple and straight to the point. Also, there are always fresh flowers.

I love a good modern café that has plenty of space to sit on spacious and comfortable couches, but I also like a little scrappy and unique coffee house. Not that modern coffee places can’t be unique, but there is something about old buildings that just make coffee taste better — It’s in the air. Their coffee is from Thailand and you can choose between cow’s milk and soy. Besides coffee, you have a range of choices from fruit juice, fruit and yogurt shakes, hot Italian sandwiches, soups and salads, to bagels and sweet and savoury pies from their own kitchen. Although their coffee didn’t make me go wow, I did enjoy a cup of well brewed cappuccino. Upon entering the little shop, something all the way in the back caught my eye. It was a terrace! When asked where I would like to sit, I immediately pointed towards the light coming through the leaves and the trees, and I couldn’t be happier with my seating choice. It’s just perfect so you have sunlight on your face, but not directly because it’s partially blocked by the leaves. There is a breeze that is just enough wind, and it’s quiet. It’s a little oasis in the middle of a extremely busy area of Amsterdam.

Such a cute place! Went there around 9am, it was practically empty. They have an outdoor terrace which is a total catch. If you get a chance to go this early, you will be lucky to witness the baking of pies. Get ready for the best smells of your life! Looks good for breakfast, wide variety of options and juices(fresh) and warm drinks

Still investigating café culture, but have decided that this place is a good example. Hot chocolate and cappuccino are good here, but service is very slow. While the food was also good, but not great. Maybe I’m expecting too much coming from New York, where breakfast can be eaten at any time of day, but can also be what ever the heart is in the mood for. The toastie with cheese, tomatoes and avocado was a great way to start the day. It was filling

Great local coffee shop! We ordered the quiche and the eggs and bacon on toast with a croissant. It was all very tasty! The quiche had a great flaky crust and tasted like someone’s mom made it. I also had a cappuccino that is now in my top 15. It was a real cappuccino the way it is supposed to be made, nothing like the gross stuff you get at places like Starbucks. The service was also very good. The woman I am assuming is the owner served us and I had mentioned that I had to try the quiche because I saw a review that said it was great on Unilocal. She accually went to check and couldn’t find it. Turns out that review was for another place and I had them confused, but it doesn’t matter now because it was great and now she had this review. We sat on the patio and read after breakfast drinking a second cappuccino. It was perfect :)

Been here many times as we live close by. Wife prefers this to Klaver 4, I disagree ;-) Very nice patio, food is good as well. My only real downside with them is the service becomes erratic when they are busy. A solid, friendly choice in the area.

Special little place. The anti thesis of starbucks. Check out the tables in the back overlooking the garden or sit outside during summer. Place feels homely but has quality. Smiling service. Nice food and even some stuff for vegans but beware the smells of bacon frying. No wifi.

Lovely, cozy patio in the back is the stand out feature here. The fresh orange juice with buttermilk was surprisingly delicious. The café latte was the perfect temperature, a lot of other cafes burn the milk. The bagel sandwich with bacon, cream cheese, avocado and tomato was right on.

Smallest bacon & eggs breakfast I’ve ever seen. I was looking for a big American breakfast and this was not it. Go to Broodie Bert for a huge breakfast that costs less. Don’t get me wrong, this is a nice place and the other foods looked good, staff was quick and friendly. I was just expecting something different from a bacon and eggs plate.

Landed in the early morning from the redeye and quickly learned that a lot of the places in the city center that serve hot breakfast food are not open at 8 a.m. Not wanting to wait hours to satiate my hunger, I found Zuivere online. It was pretty empty both times I went in during my week’s stay, which surprised me, because it was a great spot. When you enter you are greeted with the smells of fresh coffee and baked goods. I had the fried eggs with bacon both times I ate here. They serve it over toast with the eggs on the runny side and the bacon more chewy than crunchy(good things in my book). The coffee(espesso-based fare) is all good, too. The staff during both visits were incredibly friendly and provided great service. There’s also a rambunctious store cat roaming around as well which may or may not be a good thing depending on your allergies or temperament. One thing I was bummed about was that I didn’t get a chance to sit out in the back garden terrace area, which looked lovely. Bit too cold on the days I was there, though. Next time I’m in the city center I’m definitely making a point to stop here for breakfast again.

Really nice place, has a garden terrace in summer. Great coffee, great sandwiches(love the grilled veggies sandwich). Popular for the apple pie(tells the owner). I really like the this place, it is so cosy and charming. Prices are good value.
