The food is just okay and very overpriced! I ordered a waffle and the menu said it was 8 euros. When our bill came they charged 9 euros. I asked the waitress who explained that the menu was wrong. So they can list one price and then charge another? This is very illegal, so be careful!!! I would recommend any other place.

Huge crepes that are a little pricey, but if you’re craving something sweet Sara’s Pancake House would be an excellent choice. Yikes — if I had checked Unilocal I probably wouldn’t have even stopped in. These other reviews seem a little harsh, so some clarification is needed. I found that the menu is less pancakes in the American sense(thick slaps of fried dough) and more crêpe(super thin, light and fluffy). Keeping that in mind, I enjoyed my dining experience here — the service was attentive and friendly, and we didn’t have to wait a long time for our plates despite the large crowd. We ordered two crepes, one with Nutella and bananas and another with strips of ham and mushrooms. When the order comes out you’re instantly intimidated, as the crepes are huge. However the crêpe is really light and not filling, and you’ll be surprised how much of it you’ll be able to put away. It’s a pretty simple dish — straight up Nutella with bananas, ham and mushrooms on the other. I don’t think they’re supposed to be a complicated dish, but the fact they’re so straightforward in a city with such interesting food makes them seem boring. The tea I had was much more adventurous — hot whiskey and tea. I had to try it, and turns out I’m not a fan(Is this a Dutch thing I’m not getting?). The prices were also a little high. So yeah, it wasn’t bad — it’s certainly not as bad as these other reviews would indicate. If Sara’s was in a small town with less competition the reviews would be much better. But with such a diverse and interesting restaurant scene in Amsterdam, you can do a lot better.

Good, but way overpriced. We went and ordered two savory pancakes and one sweet. The Norwegian was decent with fresh ingredients, and the chicken onion wasn’t bad. The dessert was the best of the three, banana, Nutella, and cream. The pancakes aren’t American pancakes, obviously, more like a thicker crêpe the size of a plate. Good size Although it’s not bad, the foods really overpriced, for what it is. Get a dessert pancake, if you must.

Wow… the pancakes where delicious. Truly hands down… now you may think I’m weird but Im a sweet and savory kind of gal so I ordered a pancake with ham and cheese in it… then I put their thick syrup on it… Oh My God… hell to the yeah. And I wasn’t even high lol. Completely sober and enjoyed the whole thing. Wasteful as I am sometimes(yeah I admit it) I ate the whole thing and almost ordered a second one just to be greedy. Anyay I paid about 14 € plus a coffee which was pretty and tasty. My friend, ordered a plain pancake with powdered sugar and used the house original lite syrup and liked it. He fussed over the prices since we are American and the conversion of Euro’s for us is about 10% more give or take… but granted he fusses anytime money leaves his wallet lol. There was one cook behind the counter visible to the tables and you could see her throwing down back there and making the magic happen. Also, there was one server she spoke Dutch and English very sweet although busy since all the tables where full. Left satisfied. Loved Amsterdam

I and my husband came here because we wanted some desert after the dinner and most of cafes were closed after 7PM in Amsterdam. It was cold outside, so we decided to go inside of this café near our hotel. First, we were excited to have pancakes here in Amsterdam for the first time. We got inside and looked a table near the window to enjoy viewing the street, but a waiter led us to take a small table near the counter for 2 people though there were many other empty tables. We took that small table anyway. We took a look at a menu list, and I asked my husband if there were any pancakes came with strawberries, so he asked the mistress, she said that they were run out of them but strawberry sauce. I didn’t think they were run out because there were even no real strawberries on the menu anyway. Anyway, I called a waiter after a while and made an order. I felt the price was high just for a piece of pancake, so we just ordered a piece of a pancake with banana, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream(€ 13.45=$ 14.81), coca-cora(€ 2.75=$ 3.00), orange juice(not fresh € 2.95=$ 3.25), and a small bottle of water because he said they didn’t have tap water(€ 2.75=$ 3.00). The waiter brought coca-cora with no ice in a small grass, and the coke has almost gone flat and not been cold enough. Because the price was weight too high, so we just order one piece to share and that was enough for desert. That pancake looked big, but it was very thin and was no deference from crape. That tasted was okay but nothing special. I still wanted real strawberries though. The total price was € 21.90($ 24.18). We laughed because it was a good price just for desert. We asked the check anyway and gave them a € 50 bill. I head the mistress ordered the waiter to give us a bunch of needless coins for the change. He said, «I’m sorry, but we only have coins for the change.» My husband offered to give him small bills so that the waiter doesn’t need to give us so many coins. However, the waiter said, «I don’t get it,» «You gave me a € 50 bill once, that is what you paid, so you have to take the coins» and once again, «I don’t get it.» I understand what he meant, but my husband didn’t mean to trick him or anything. I felt the waiter’s attitude wasn’t appropriate how to deal with customers. Despite of their attitude, I could have given 2 stars for them because the taste wasn’t too bad, but they would not be in too much trouble even if they had 1 star for their total rating because of the location, near the Anne Frank’s House. I wish other cafes will become open late night. Although any others don’t open until late, I will yet come back to Sara’s Pancake House never again.

There were very few people in the restaurant when I went. The waitress was not very friendly or welcoming. I ordered poffertjes with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. The poffertjes were fine, but kind of cold and drenched in whipped cream and chocolate sauce. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

After visiting the Anne Frank Museum my friend and I were cold and hungry. This place happened to be the first place that we came across. When we entered, we glanced around and the pancakes looked delicious and huge! When we saw the menu the pancakes were quite expensive for our taste. So we ordered one and shared. When the pancake came, it was not something that we expected at all. The pancakes were really thin and it had A LOT of Nutella packed on top of it. The pancakes were more like crepes. There were so much Nutella on my «pancake» I had to ordered water because it was making my throat dry. The water itself cost almost 3 Euro for a tiny bottle that did not quench my thirst! My friend on the other hand ordered hot chocolate that was very watered down… It was more like chocolate water… Leaving this place I was still hungry, dissatisfy and felt like it was over priced. There are better places around! But if you like over priced crepes this is the place to go!

I have visited Amsterdam several times and I usually only eat at one pancake house(Pancakes, Amsterdam!) but they were closed during my last visit. My wife and I came across this place while sight seeing near Anne Frank’s House and we decided to get a late breakfast. The price and food, plus free wifi, was good enough that we felt compelled to come again the next day. As a tourist, If you are looking for a good meal(breakfast/lunch) at a decent price I would recommend this place.

I can only assume the gal who frequently works here solo is either the owner or manager. once we finally realized she was doing the entire shebang alone, it should have been a sign to get out stat. I wish I could say she was in good spirits considering her predicament, but I can’t. she was extremely rude and it leads me to believe she does it to herself to save money. food was absolutely whatever. omelette had an odd film on it and was extremely thin and dry. pancake was thin and tasteless and deceives you with the size of the plate. cappuccino tasted instant(most likely was) and service took painfully long. once we tried to pay, the gal was so rude. really disheartening because I know a lot of people walking by wander in expecting a diner experience. my meal here was the same price if not more than most of my really delicious dinners in the city. hope the solo worker(who we call Sara because no one else would willingly work that shift alone) finds happiness because her misery was contagious and not a warm welcoming meal you want to stumble upon in such a beautiful city.

So, we all where hungry, and whats better than pancakes in A’dam? Good pancakes ofcoz. Well, we had pancakes, at least the girls had. I went for nachos. The nachos came with sweet pepper sauce, thats for asian food, not a mexican or tex-mex thing. No salsa for me. Ok, the girls got their stuff. Afterwards the oldest daughter went to the toilet. She came pale back. There was excrements all over the place there. So no toilet for her. After a little while the buzz-boy cleaned the toilet, and rinsed off his wash-cloth in the same sink they use for washing up dishes and cutlery. Nasty. So we went. After about 45 minutes the sickness started. The gilrls have been barfing all night now. Never ever go there! Unless you like barfing.

All I can say is everything is overpriced even for Amsterdam. Three of us had 2 orders of poffertjes and 1 pancake none of which were special. Everything is overpriced, approx. € 12 for a pancake and € 8.50 for 8 poffertjes. Food probably fueled us for an hour. Staff wa super nice but one poor girl was running the entire place when we arrived. There are better options in that area.

Pricey but delicious. The creeps are huge and have many different varieties to choose from. I ordered the peanut butter and banana to stay on the cheaper end and it was quite filling. My husband had the strawberry sauce with vanilla ice cream, he liked it. However we thought there would be strawberries in the strawberry sauce, it was just the sauce. Overall, it was a good brunch.

The pancakes were simple, cold and not tasty at all. Considering the amount of money we had to pay(~12 euros for a thin crêpe with nutella on top of it) we were not satisfied. When the waiter asked us whether we are pleased with the food or not, we said –in a polite and friendly way– that we didn’t like it. From this moment on he acted totally rude which made us angry. I could easily accept the fact that as a tourist you don’t know the restaurants well enough and that you are prone to pay a lot of money for low quality. But the unfriendly behaviour of the personal was unacceptable. I would never go there again.

After an early morning visit to the Anne Frank House we were absolutely starving! Walking towards Dam Square we found Sara’s Pancake House, back home in wales we have a Dutch Pancake house which is absolutely lovely and so we were pretty exited to try Sara’s out. We were the only ones there but it soon filled up, perhaps we inspired more people to enter! The menu was pretty big but I had to discount most of it due to how expensive eveything was! I settled on a basic waffle with butter and sugar, which was meant to be 5,95 due to asking for a banana as an extra the price rose to 8,45! I could have bought a bunch of bananas for that price! Given that this was breakfast it was pretty expensive, however we soon realised that Amsterdam in general was very expensive, if only we’d known; we’d have waited to go until after the next student loan went in haha! All in all it was tasty, but very very expensive for what it was!

Think Large thin Crepes and that is what you are in store for. Sweet and Savory — they have lots of choices, and do them well. I suggest slotting one savory and one sweet and it makes for a decent meal. I agree 10 euros per is pretty expensive, but ours were done well and efficiently served. I enjoyed the Bananas and Blueberries — lots of fruit and dusted with powdered sugar. The bacon and cheese was a little strange in that the cheese is large hunks baked in not shredded, and the bacon is pink ham — Canadian baconish just so you know. I came here on a Rick Steve’s guidebook recommendation and would and was not disappointed.

Make a point of stopping by Sara’s pancake house, varied sweet and savoury menu we have been more than satisfied every time we have visited. We’ve had the Waffles(kersch) Pancakes(sweet & savoury) and an omelette Cooked immaculately and to perfection, the plates are HUGE and presented beautifully. If you are lucky enough to have good weather sit outside ;) 3 adult pancakes and drinks will cost around € 50

We walked in starving after an 8-hour bus ride from Paris(not a good idea btw) and we walked out still hungry. The portion sizes were deceiving. The pancakes come in huge platters but they are fairly thin and they skimp on the toppings. Really, it was more like an open crêpe. Each pancake costs around 10 euros, which is expensive for what you get. I recommend their dessert crepes over their savory crepes. The one with ice cream and caramel sauce was really good, but you’ve got to gobble it down quickly before you end up with a pool of melted gloop. The service was inefficient. There was only one girl working the whole restaurant. Props to her for wo-manning the station on her own. She was very polite and kept track of orders. Nonetheless, it didn’t calm down our impatient stomachs. The food wasn’t bad yet it was pricey. It wasn’t anything special. Felt bad for the one girl cooking, cleaning and waitressing — keep it up, Cinderella!

Nothing at all like the IHOPs I grew up with… this small, hip place has a wide variety of sweet and savory crepes. My partner and I ordered the same dish — the Greenlander since were big time spinach lovers. Other veggies were included but the spinach was the draw. It looks like a piza but of course the crust is soft because it’s a crêpe… a very yummy, intoxicating crêpe. I really enjoyed it. I ordered green tea and was brought traditional black Lipton tea… oh well. The service was not so great but there’s a nice vibe to the restaurant. It reminded me of being in college in Greenwich village.

We were the first couple in the restaurant at 8:50 in the morning, but six more tables filled up in the ten minutes after we arrived. Prices are a bit high, especially if you’re spending dollars converted to euros. The pancakes themselves were incredible, although it’s actually one pancake that you’re served. I had a bacon and cheese savory pancake while my fiancée had the blueberry sweet pancake. My bacon and cheese pancake was great, although I could have easily eaten three of them. My fiancée loved hers, but there was way too much powdered sugar on her sweet pancake. It’s really quite tasty and conveniently located, but not really worth what they charge. Then again, there are very few options at that time in the morning since Amsterdam doesn’t really wake up until about 11am.

International pancake from too many countries to list. Lots of side choices. Service Good. 14 tables(inside) & outside tables too. They service breakfast until 12N. After noon they serve crapes and omelettes. Some beer & wine coffee teas and juice. I have eaten here twice both time I have been happy with the overall experince. Tip: Mostly tourist, near many small hotel or Hostel.
