Best pancakes I’ve ever had! My wife, daughter, and I shared two pancakes for a ‘snack’. One had Gouda and bacon and the other was strawberries and banana drizzled with warm Nutella sauce. We are going again for round two with our son next Sunday afternoon for our last meal before returning to The States. If we weren’t staying in Haarlem, we would have gone back tonight, too. Crazy good stuff!

Still one of the bests pancakes I’ve had in Amsterdam. The roll them and served them to you in a to-​go box, and even cut them so it’s easy to eat on the go. Ingredients are tasty and fresh, and overall a friendly environment. I’ll go back!

The Happy Pig is a cute little restaurant situated on a street corner. It’s such an adorable place, and the two ladies working are very hospitable. One of them likes to sing along to the radio, which is fun. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. I ordered a wheat pancake with strawberries, bananas, and chocolate-​hazelnut sauce. It was delicious, and the presentation was great as well. Would certainly recommend to others.

An absolute must! This place was so fun and the food was not only delicious but very unique in presentation. Great coffee too! Service was very nice.

Returned to New York from a trip to lovely Amsterdam. and can’t stop thinking about the best waffle I’ve ever had! This cute shop run by two lovely ladies serves up the best Dutch pancakes and absolutely delicious waffles. My friend and I shared a dessert pancake with bananas, chocolate sauce and organic vanilla ice cream. What a scrumptiously wonderful middle of the day treat! My brother ordered the waffle with powdered sugar. One bite and I was transported into warm, cakey, waffle heaven. Something so simple was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I wish I could order a case of those hot waffles to my home. Great food, warm and friendly service.

The staff is super friendly and there pancakes are just mind blowing ! Definitely a must-​do !

Cute & fun pancake place & when in Amsterdam you have to try their delicious crêpe like pancakes.
My husband had the banana and house made chocolate hazelnut sauce sweet pancake and had them add organic vanilla ice cream on top. Delicious!
I had the ham and veggie (cucumbers and tomato) Pancake with a side of the house made (I think it was homemade) onion chutney. Very good but would have been amazing with some age Gouda or some other cheese melted in.
Saw they had a homemade salted Carmel sauce that looked incredible. Wish I’d tried it. Nice/​friendly service and good music completed our lovely breakfast on a cold rainy day in Amsterdam. Recommended.

Mjam mjam Waffeln. Gibts eigentlich irgendeinen Waffel oder Crêpe Laden auf der Welt der keine 5 Sterne hat? Schwer vorstellbar. Aber gut, hier passt auch wirklich alles. Nette Damen machen ausgezeichnete Waffeln oder Crêpe. Natürlich alles sehr sündige Dinger mit viel Zucker, also geht hin!

Obwohl ich keinen Hunger hatte, der Laden sah so toll aus, und es roch so lecker, ich konnte nicht anders, ich musste einfach einen Crêpe essen.
Ich hatte Crêpe mit Apfel und Puderzucker, und das war ein absoluter Traum! Crêpe und Apfel hatten genau die richtige dezente Süße, nach 8 Wochen Süßigkeiten-​Fasten, und die beiden äußerst gutgelaunten Damen, die den Laden am Laufen halten, tun ihren Teil dazu, dass das einfach ein netter Ort für einen Zwischenstopp ist.
Also, nix wie hin da!

When in Amsterdam, it’s pretty much a requirement to eat some Dutch pancakes and The Happy Pig is a great place to get your fill. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted by the staff singing to a food tour group. I also noticed the big, colorful chalkboard on the wall filled with customers’ cute and quirky messages and doodles. I quickly decided that I already loved this place, even before tasting the pancakes.
I ordered the pankoeken with bananas, strawberries, and whipped cream. The pancakes came out in a couple of minutes in a long cardboard container, deliciously warm with fresh fruit nestled in between. As I was taking a photo, the owner jokingly scolded me saying to hurry up and eat before the pancakes got cold. I didn’t think I could finish the entire pancake, but it was so yummy I polished it off in about 5 minutes flat. So good!

Delicious Dutch pancakes and Liege waffles served by friendly staff! I had my favorite sweet pancakes in town there. So good we went there three times in one week… The caramel sauce was really great!

I dreamed about coming here and it finally happened. Thanks to my phone I was able to find it. I had the Dutch pancake with the strawberries, chocolate hazelnut sauce, and freshly whipped cream while the other half had a Belgian waffle with the same perks. They were absolutely delicious! As we left our amazing host told us she will see us there tomorrow… which is a likely probability.

So delicious I had to have two pancakes!

Little pancake shop that is a bit difficult to find. My hotel had one of those discount cards, and my boyfriend and I were excited to try dutch pancakes. We were expecting the big, fluffy dutch baby type pancakes and were met with cut up rolls of crepes. I had a big misconception of what a pancake in the Netherlands is supposed to look like, so I was actually a little disappointed. Not their fault though. I found it both strange and hilarious that the woman working behind the counter making our pancakes/​crepes would go out of a smoke and talk shop with the cute bartender boy from across the way once all of her customers were set with their food. The cappuccino was excellent though.

I would fly back just to taste these waffles again. So delicious! After enjoying a gyro my boyfriend and I went to the happy pig to have some dessert and we fell in love. It was absolutely amazing! It is a little hole in the wall but it had the best dessert chocolate waffles ever! The service was great and although the place was small, it was very cozy.

This place was so cute! We tried authentic Dutch pancakes! There were a variety of savory flavors, and all were good! It was a bit small for my liking, but still good!

I dragged my husband here after wandering the canals and wanted a treat. The Happy Pig did not disappoint. I ordered the pancake with apple filling and whip cream and it was perfect, not too sweet and not a complete gut bomb or sugar crash afterwards.

This is a quaint little shop that serves happiness on a thin little paper plate. You can customize a sweet or savory treat according to your foodie level of adventure.
I ordered a savory pankoeken that definitely hit the spot. It consisted of Bacon, Gouda, Fig and Spicy Chutney. Delicious!
The woman that made my Dutch Pancake was very sweet, had great musical taste and a pleasant singing voice (singing to music streaming in the shop). Craving satisfied.

Delicious and cute shop. We came for breakfast and had the banana nutella pancakes. Cut up into small bit size bites and the plain waffle. The waffle was so damn good! Total came out to be around 11euro. Easy and quick.

Wir waren vergangenes Wochenende in Amsterdam und haben im The Happy Pig einen pancake gegessen. Dieser war sehr lecker, man kann das kleine Restaurant nur empfehlen. Man kann sich seinen pancake selbst zusammenstellen, man wählt verschiedene toppins aus und danach wird es dann gekocht. Die beiden Besitzer sind sehr nett und zuvorkommend.

Quite possibly the most delightful indulgent treat ever! I just described my fav ingredients like strawberries, bananas, chocolate, etc and had that wonderful woman cook us up a storm of deliciousness. And what I was all done I didn’t feel full or too stuffed! Great ice cream too.

Good location, loved our apple pancake and the good service. We also loved the upbeat music :)

Really love this place. You get a lot of food for the money. The pancakes are great. The apple mix was perfect with sweet and tart. The worker was so nice and friendly and full of energy. I also had a latte which was very smooth. Will be back again.

Durch eine Rabattkarte, die im Hotel auslagen wurden wir auf diesen laden aufmerksam und als wir auf unser Entdeckungstour durch Amsterdam in Spui unterwegs waren, kehrten wir heir ein, um einen kaffee zu trinken und was süßes zu essen.
Der Laden ist SEHR klein, es gibt vielleicht 10 Sitzplätze. Man kann direkt in die «Küche» schauen, da sie sich im Laden befindet.
Man bestellt sich eine Waffel oder einen Pfannkuchen (Weizen oder Dinkel) und kann dann nach Lust und Laune die Füllung und Toppings aussuchen, jede weitere Zutat kostet etwas.
Ich habe einen Kaffee, einen Chai Latte und einen Dinkelpfannkuchen mit Apfelfüllung, Karamelsauce und Sahne bestellt (ca 15 Euro insgesamt), der nach ca 8 min fertig war. Es duftete schon während der Zubereitung sehr lecker und auch das Ergebnis konnte mich vollends überzeugen.
Der Pfannkuchen war saftig und nicht zu süß, was gut war den die Apfelfüllung und die Karamellsauce hatten es in sich! Sehr sehr lecker, vor allem die hausgemachte salty caramel Sauce. Ich wurde sehr gut satt von einem Pfannkuchen, wenn man keinen großen Hunger hat, kann man sich sehr gut einen teilen.
Der Chai-​Tee war auch hervorrangend, nicht mit einem Pulver angerührt sondern mit einer sehr guten Teemischung zubereitet.
das WLan ist gratis, weshalb das Café ein guter Ort ist, um als Touri schnell was zu essen und seinen weiteren Tag zu planen.
Schade, dass es sowas nicht bei uns gibt!

Super Pancake! Hatte Käse/​Speck und meine Freundin Apfel/​Sirup. Wird frisch gemacht, viele Optionen für Füllungen, sehr nette Bedienung. Komme gerne wieder!

amazing! banana and nutella is the best. This place is so perfect– small and cozy and smells unbelievable. There’s only a couple of places to sit, so be prepared to take your waffle goodness to go. They also sell Tony’s chocolate bars, which are always a good pick up.

Really lovely breakfast. The waffles and pancakes are delicious. The coffee is fresh. Seating is limited.

Lovely little shop and the staff look really into making pancakes and waffles. A bit expensive I have to say and there’s no bathroom.

We headed here for breakfast and wasn’t disappointed. It’s teeny tiny so don’t expect to hang around or even get a seat, however thee delicious pancakes come sliced into bite sized pieces in a long tray for easy carrying if you do need to take out.
The menu is small but with everyone you’d want. We opted for the Dutch cheese and fig jam pancakes and they were DELICIOUS! All their food seems to be organic, and the are spelt/​buckwheat options for the pancakes for that extra healthy point — and they are yum!
They also serve waffles and coffee as well as ethical snacks and drinks. Definitely worth stopping off at!
