Humphrey’s

Ich war im Humphrey’s mit 30 Kollegen und wir haben dort das 3-​Gänge-​Menü gegessen. Die Location ist sehr ansprechend, auch der Service war freundlich und schnell. Die Auswahl auf der Karte war bestens, da war etwas für Fleischliebhaber, für Vegetarier und auch Low-​Carb. Das Essen und auch der Weißwein waren wirklich lecker und vor allem sehr preiswert. Da das Lokal auch noch sehr zentral liegt, kann man es für jedweden privaten oder geschäftlichen Anlass uneingeschränkt empfehlen!

Wow! Absolutely nailed it for me! Good wine great food and truly outstanding value. Have eaten in the worlds best restuarants it is not haute cuisine just really good French cooking honest and hugely enjoyable. Would definitely come again.

Wir sind aufgrund der guten Bewertungen von Tripvisitor hier hin gekommen und waren BEGEISTERT! Preis Leistung unschlagbar. Das Essen ist sehr lecker der Wein ebenso und das Personal sehr nett. Man sollte allerdings reservieren da das Restaurant sehr gut besucht scheint. Wir kommen definitiv wieder sobald der nächste Amsterdamausflug ansteht!!!

Our mistake before coming to Humphrey’s was eating that same day. You would seriously need to fast for days before eating there in order to be able to come close to finishing your meal. You definitely get a lot of food for your money, but it seems so wasteful. I got the beef carpaccio as my appetizer, and it was so big that I already felt full after eating only that. Both my hubby and I got the mixed grill. We wished we could have ordered one tasting menu and split it because there was just so much food on the table! We couldn’t eat our desserts so we asked if we could take them to go. Our server said it wasn’t possible so we just cancelled them. The taste and quality of the house red wine was surprising good and the food was flavorful and enjoyable, but there was just so much of it.

Great fix priced three course meals. Nice selection of fish, meat and vegetarian options. Dinning area is comfortable and the service was good. Dutch speed. Slow and not rushed. We’ll be back.

This restaraunt is excellent! It is a fixed price three course meal. The food was superb, and the servings were the perfect size. And it should be noted that the staff were all very friendly, helpful, and all spoke english! Go here if you want an amazing meal!

Excellent food/​service again
This was our third visit to Humphrey’s. We’d reserved ahead of time and it was a good thing since the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night in mid-​February. The food and service were excellent; my only complaint was what a previous poster stated: when I tried to defer my dessert order until after eating my main I was told, «It would be easier for me since I’ve taken all the other orders» by the waitress. Not too sure why that extra 3 minutes after eating the main would have been a problem…
Our table of 5 chose a multitude of different apps, mains, and desserts. With the exception of the maize chicken which wasn’t great, all other dishes were really, really good. For € 24.95 for a three-​course meal it’s hard to beat the price to value offer here.

I lived above Humphrey’s for about 1.5 years. I only went a few times but the size of the portions never ceased to amaze me!
I agree with the consensus of the reviews — consistent food and service. The food isn’t revolutionary but it is good. I quite like the interior as well and though I’ve never been with a group, I imagine it would be a great place for it!

We went with a tour group for a celebration dinner. It was wonderful. The service was great and the food was delicious.

They have consistently good food at a reasonable price. It is a fixed-​prixe for 3 courses which you can choose from a menu which changes (seasonally? monthly?).
This is a great place to go for safe and tasty meal.

I have never been treated with such disrespect! After not being able to finish my meal our server packaged the leftovers, within minutes the manager came to our table and proceeded to yell at us that the food we paid for «you just can’t take it! It is to eat here, if you want to take food out call in and order it to take away!» The tables around us looked shocked, I was flabbergasted by such a disgusting display of unprofessional behavior. He then publicly reprimanded the poor girl who was waiting on us. Having had no problem taking food away from other local restaurants I know it’s not a cultural issue. I’ve been in the restaurant/​hotel business for almost 20 years and I cannot believe I had such negative experience.
The service was fine. Food was average– little care was taken in leaving out ingredients to which my husband has allergies.

As and American this restaurant offers a GREAT price fixed meal.
My wife and I had the steak… excellent.

Cost was 24 euro each or about $ 30 us dollars.

I took a group of American students here for their welcome dinner and I was pretty impressed. I go to a lot of restaurants with groups and it’s not always easy to find places in Amsterdam to accommodate more than 10 people and with a small budget.
The portion and quality of the food was good. The students had some issues deciding what to eat since there was so much on the menu but were thrilled that they could get 3 courses. No one complained of still be hungry. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. The décor and atmosphere was also very nice.
Not sure I would necessarily take my family or guests from out of town (unless they were very picky eaters) but it was a great place for a group meal. Unlike one reviewer mentioned, we would not consider Niewezijds Kolk part of the Jordaan. This is restaurant is in the Centrum (center).
If you are looking for a unique Amsterdam experience I would not recommend it (they are a chain and can be found in many cities in the Netherlands). However, if you are looking for a good meal at a very decent price in the center of town, then I would recommend it. As I said, it is also a great place for groups and you know exactly how much you will be spending per person (minus drinks).

Das Humphrey’s verfolgt ein Spannendes Konzept: Für 24 Euro kann man sich eine Vorspeise, Hauptgang und Dessert zusammenstellen. Es kostet immer 24 Euro (ohne Getränke).
Dabei stehen pro Gang ca. 10 Gerichte zur Auswahl.
Das Essen war sehr gut und die Küche war enorm schnell. Wir mussten nie mehr als 10 Minuten zwischen den Gängen warten. Wer es etwas gemütlicher möchte, der sollte das dem Servierpersonal mitteilen. Denn bestellt werden alle 3 Gänge auf einmal.
Ich finde das Konzept spannend und das Ambiente ist sehr angenehm.
Einziger Kritikpunkt: Der bestellte Hauswein war viel zu warm und enthielt zu viel Kohlensäure.

We had a very nice meal here. The service was excellent and the food uniformly good. A definite keeper.

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. It fit three categories that we required:
1. Good food
2. Kid friendly
3. Walkable
As for #1 — the kiddo and the husband liked it a lot more than I did. That being said — it was not bad; I just was expecting more after talking to the concierge. The one thing I really liked — full menu for one price. You just picked from each course off a very liberal menu.
And I am so thankful that they were willing to make the kiddo something special. Very kid friendly!
And definitely walkable — just maybe 5 – 7 minute walk.
All in all — we would definitely go back.

good service, pretty atmosphere, tons of food! too much! good wine list and easy to get to from our hotel (next door)

The first time I went here, I was blown away. Now, I’ve had time to go a few more times, I’m more critical. It’s a really safe, and decent choice for a nice meal.
This is one of those really rare limited chains. You get a full multi-​course meal for a fixed price. You get a lot for your money, and the service has always been good. At first, when going with co-​workers, I was like «wow» what a great meal for the price. It was on subsequent visits I could see the compromises they make to deliver so much for such a fair price.
When I was here on holiday with my wife, she spent most of the the meal playing with the cat. She spent a lot of time tempting it with her roast duck. The cat certainly ate her fair share. When she talked to one of the long time servers, he said that was unusual because the cat was really jaded when it came to eating with a customer. It made my wife’s evening.
It’s not that perfect dinner in the Jordaan, but it’s a great choice when you want things to be safe and tasty.

Good three course menu for not too much. You select your three courses from the menu and won’t be didappointed. The menu changes every month and amazingly enough there’s always something on it for everybody. They’re good, not spectacular. If you want to play safe, or are close to them and don’t feel like walking around much longer looking for a decent place to eat: is your place.

Humphrey’s is mere footsteps from the hotel we enjoyed in Amsterdam, the Convent Hotel. Previous guests had mentioned Humphrey’s when they reviewed the hotel on TripAdvisor, so we decided to give it a try. While I tend not to seek out chain restaurants for dining, Humphrey’s is very nice. They do something pretty clever, which is that they offer a very affordable pris fixe menu with three courses, so you enjoy the whole dining out experience for a relatively low cost.
Unfortunately, on the night that we went in, it was very cold and somewhat crowded. Faced with the choice of dining in the middle of a busy room or in a cold corner, we picked the chilly spot. Though the décor is very beautiful, it feels a bit impersonal and modern.
For the meal, we chose mushroom soup as the starter. It was very good. The entreés we chose were meat with a red wine sauce for my dining companion. I tried a tiny taste of the sauce and was very impressed. My meal was, of course, the fish special. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Dessert was Crème Bruleé. It was a bit cool and the sugar crust was a bit thin and not quite crunchy enough.
I would definitely eat here again and I feel it’s a very good value for the money! The food is very well-​prepared and of a good quality. The service was very efficient. I’m not sure if it really earns much more than «A-​OK» for its rating and I don’t know that I could count myself a fan. In a city of amazing dining experiences that are equally delicious, but cozier or more unique, I count this one as simply very good.
In summation, «Eet smakelijk!» It’s still quite yummy here.
