Food is great — even transcendent compared to other nearby options. Prices are quite reasonable. The staff even entertained my horrible Dutch.

Super location with a great view. Those enormous windows frame the world so beautifully. You could make a film by leaving a camera pointing at a window. Inside warm and cosy. Outside dark, cold, wet and chaotic.
Some years ago the beers were overpriced but now this café can compete with any other. Their selection of special beers is really good and changes regularly.
Tonight I’m not eating but I have eaten here often enough to be able to recommend it.
The décor, the temporary art exhibitions, and the quirky furniture make this well worth a visit. You would not expect this of a café so close to CS, so come and enjoy.

Really nice place, conveniently located across from Amsterdam Central Station, and great to pop into for a drink or meal. Food is really great, and they have a nice selection of interesting beers to try.

Muy cerca del hotel donde estaba alojado, lo aproveché para desayunar un día y comer otro. Desayuno muy completo con multitud de opciones: desde desayuno continental a un simple croissant. A la hora de comer sirven lo que llaman uno sandwiches aunque en realidad son tostadas. Muy rico y sano. Recomendable

Delicious food and coffee. The staff is friendly and eager to make sure everything taste great. It is located on a busy corner close to Dam Square so it might be better to eat inside as it can get a little noisy outside. Overall this place is great!

After our visit tonight, I have to update my review. This evening, Dwaze Zaken closes at 24.00 but they had cleaned their coffee machine before 22.15. Nearly two hours ahead of closing, they were no longer serving any hot drinks (coffee, tea, etc.) and the waiter really wasn’t apologetic. We definitely won’t return here in the evening…*maybe* we’ll give them another try in the afternoon.

Hummus salad with grilled vegetables sandwich and Cuban black bean soup were delicious! Quaint café environment that serves coffee, teas, and a good selection of beers.

Ridiculously overpriced food that you could create at home yourself. The location and staff are great but be prepared to have your wallet raped! Shocking.
My 17 euro sweet potato with «stuffed Brie and nut crust» was literally half a sweet potato with Brie on top and a pile of lentils. No stuffing, no nuts and not 17 €!!

À notre arrivée tôt le matin à Amsterdam, nous cherchions un endroit sympathique où prendre un petit déjeuner pour contenter nos ventres affamés par le trajet.
Idéalement placé à proximité de la gare (Central Station), le Dwaze Zaken est un petit bistro plein de charme où il fait bon s’arrêter. Je né pourrais me prononcer que sur les petits déjeuners puisque je n’y suis allée que pour cette occasion: il y a un large choix de menus de petits déjeuners complets, typiques (dont de nombreux pancakes) et healthy/​végétarien (dont un fromage blanc accompagné granola et de confiture aux fruits rouges exquis). Vous trouverez également nos classiques croissants français et le tout le plus souvent servi avec café et jus d’orange fraîchement pressé
Si le Dwaze Zaken vaut le détour pour sa nourriture, son cadre n’est également pas en reste puisque la décoration est soignée de la salle jusqu’aux toilettes (d’ailleurs très surprenants, ils valent le coup d’œil haha) avec de nombreuses fresques en verre de toutes les couleurs. L’ambiance est colorée, écolo, sympathique et chaleureuse.
Je recommande vivement cet endroit pour les arrivées ou départs au temps des repas proches de la gare ;)

Ich bin immer wieder überrascht, dass man auch direkt an den Touristen-​Hot-​Spots solch gute Locations findet.
Wir haben dort gefrühstückt. Alle Speisen waren erstklassig (optisch, geschmacklich, einfach alles).
Auch das Getränkeangebot war absolut in Ordnung.
Abgerundet wurde alles noch mit einem super freundlichem Service.
Beim nächsten Amsterdam-​Trip ist ein Besuch im Dwaze Zaken quasi schon eingeplant :-)

Best place in Amsterdam to people watch and have a beer with great food. Hard to beat the location and sights and sounds of the patio and the food is really really good… It might say café but it has a fantastic menu. Also has local, sustainable, organic options. Highly recommended!

Ein genial gelegenes Lokal direkt neben dem Amsterdamer Hauptbahnhof, in dem sich dementsprechend auch viele Touristen einfinden. Auf diese ist man durch englischsprachige Speisekarten und eine umfangreiche Speisenauswahl gut vorbereitet. Ich war zwei Mal dort, beim ersten Mal hatte ich eine leckere Suppe, beim zweiten mal ein Omelette, das skurillerweise auf einem Schwarzbrot serviert wird (die Holländer lieben Brot — ist in fast jeder Speise dabei). Die Portionsgrössen sind teilweise sehr klein, ansonsten ein empfehlenswertes Lokal.

Das Dwaze Zaken liegt sehr zentral, nur einen Steinwurf vom Amsterdamer Hauptbahnhof entfernt.
Von außen etwas unscheinbar und namentlich kaum zu erkennen, ist das Bistro bzw. Restaurant von ihnen sehr gechillt eingerichtet. :)
Die Speisekarte wird nach Tageszeiten gewechselt und bietet morgens ein reichliche Auswahl an Frühstücks-​Variationen.
Ab 12 Uhr kommt die Mittagskarte, die mit warmen und kalten Sandwiches aufwartet und diversen Kleinigkeiten. Die Karten sind sowohl in holländisch, als auch in englisch verfasst.
Ich hatte ein Sandwich mit gegrillten Brie und Pesto.
Liest man Sandwich, sollte man nicht an das amerikanische Vorbild denken. Vielmehr war dieses ein dicke Scheibe Brot, welche angegrillt wurde. Darauf lag der Brie, leicht zerlaufen, dezent im Geschmack das Pesto und noch etwas Grünzeugs.
Der Service war sehr freundlich und charmant und trotz Fülle immer schnell zur Stelle.
Für ein Frühstück am Morgen oder einen Snack zwischendurch bei einem Caffé Latte kann ich das Dwaze Zaken sehr gut empfehlen.
Tip: Das Wlan-​Passowrt steht auf der Speisekarte.

Great cozy place with good service and nice atmosphere, right by the central station. We always come here for the french breakfast!

A cute café near the Grand Central Station, it’s a convenient bite, and the food is quite good. It’s basically modern fusion with a Netherlands touch. There was a stage in this small space, although nobody was playing at the time. The walls are festooned with funky murals. Special mention of the bathroom, which is a weird work of art in itself, with the tiling and angles reminiscent of a Gaudi building. Service was very friendly if, like with most of Europe, slow.
The wife, chatting with the server, also learned that a key element of the «Dwaze Zaken» experience is that all the ingredients are locally sourced.
Of course, buyer beware on this review as it is the view of a tourist, and not a local.

This place is great! It’s always very busy, great for getting a coffee, watching people and the food is good! Service was quick and the prices are pretty attractive. It’s a clean place closer to central Station and a good mid day stop not matter if type heading to the museums or red light district. If breaking a mirror is seven years bad luck don’t look at the wall decorations!

They ran out of hot chocolate so they made it for me with milk + cocoa. Excellent service!

Fantastic boutique-​style coffee shop, perfect for breakfast and 2 minutes away from the Central Station. The ingredients were clearly fresh and well prepared. The english breakfast is served with a bit of a twist and if you don’t like mustard stay away from it. The pancakes are the work of a genius. Price range from 5 to 10 €.

Really glad I had a meeting here, otherwise I may have missed it. This café and restaurant, right across from Centraal Station is right there, but it is hidden, too!
Good coffee, cozy atmosphere. I also had a breakfast omlette served on fresh bread that also comes with coffee and fresh juice. The great thing about this is the location — smack dab in the center our tourist-​ville yet feels like a local spot you’d find in more relaxed and hip areas of the city.
I know I’ll end up using this place as a meeting point, too, for those coming in on the train. Rather than meet at CS, meet here.
Their dinner menu looks great, too. They aim to use organic and local products as well, which I appreciate.

I loved frequenting this place. It’s a great place to go when you get tired of other Amsterdam cafes, it’s quiet, and the atmosphere and décor are awesome. Make sure you go to the bathroom here too, cause they look amazing and fun.

Der eine mit seiner Arbeit und Macbook neben den Ehepaar beim Mittagessen, dazwischen Schüler und Studenten und alternative Lebenskünstler.
Preise sind OK, aber auf dem allgemeinem hohem Amsterdamer Niveau.
Das Lokal besitzt eine schöné ruhige Stimmung, die man in Amsterdam oftmals vermissen kann.
