My husband and I visit Amsterdam every year and have eaten at quite a few of the locations around the city. The service is always great, but this location was the best so far! Everyone in our group is vegan and the staff knew exactly what did and didn’t work for us and the service was very quick! Also, the owner was there and she was very friendly — you could tell she takes pride in her business. We will definitely seek this location out on future visits!

Since Claudia and Claire took over this place at the end of 2014 it has become my favourite place to enjoy my coffee and bagels. I can assure you that this is the place where you will be treated in the best manners possible. Enjoy!

We are this twice during our time in Amsterdam. The tuna salad bagels are so delicious. Adding capers and lemon makes for a fantastic fresh take and a deli classic. I got take out both times but the woman offers me a juice sample while I waited. I wish I had eaten there as the interior was adorable and the outside seating was right on the canal.

I am a fan of Bagels & Beans but each location seems very different in layout. This one is quite small, but the friendly attitude makes up for the tiny space! There is a special where you get a bagel, cream cheese, jam, tea(or coffee), and orange juice for a very good price. It’s great deal! But they have a great selection of healthy yogurt, sandwiches, teas, coffee, and other yummy things. It always takes me a while to figure out what I want because it all looks good! They have juices too! And there is even an option to get a juice that is all their juices mixed together… sounds intriguing. Great spot to grab a snack or quick lunch and a coffee/tea/juice while making your way through the Haarlemmerstraat area! Just don’t bring your lugguge… not enough room.

A nice place with friendly staff. Bagels are not really something extraordinary, but definitely worth of trying.

I lived in Amsterdam for 5 months in early 2006 and had the opportunity to visit again in November 2012 — almost 7 years later! Bagels & Beans was one of my favorite places while living and going to school there, so when I came back for a visit I knew I had to see if it was still open. And of course it was! Lucky for me :) DRINK: Upon my return visit, my friend and I both ordered tea to start. It’s loose-leaf tea and they a nice variety to choose from. Our waitress spoke wonderful English and offered her favorites. We both ordered and up on getting our tea weren’t sure how to drink it. So a good 5 minutes went by and we both looked at our cups of tea, secretly wondering why it hadn’t darkened the water… at all! There was a mesh-like basket on top, which we both failed to flip over so it was submerged in water, like traditional tea. We had a good laugh upon discovering our stupidity and after another 5 minutes of letting the tea leaves actually steep, we thoroughly enjoyed our slightly floral selections. FOOD: We ordered 2 bagel sandwiches and split them: Tuna Melt on Multigrain and BLT on Whole Wheat. YUM. The menu is huge and varied for«just a bagel place» and I recommend whatever you’re in the mood for — sweet and savory choices — because I have yet to be disappointed here, even after all these years. I can’t wait until my next trip to Amsterdam…

Great service, cosy interior with nice street views, and consistently good food and coffee — that’s Bagel and Beans for you. I love the little bowls of sugar and candy at every table. They’re usually bereft of any candy, though, which is understandable considering how easy it is to go through then while you’re waiting for your bagel. It’s almost like a game! The bagels are really fresh and toasted just right. You can even order some gourmet combinations. Extra bagels are cheaper than an entire combination. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the views great.

Other than the chocolate covered espresso beans mixed between the sugar cubes on each table, this place is nothing to write home about(literally). I guess you can’t be so picky about bagels in a foreign country, especially a NYC bagel elitist— but I’m not sure these would qualify definitionally. The staff was friendly enough and the space was clean and large, with additional seating downstairs. But if you come, get something other than a ‘bagel’.

I come here frequently because they’re close to home. Good food and service, cozy interior and a nice mix of locals and tourists. Come early if you want a breakfast seat, this place is small and popular :-)

Bagels and Beans is perfect for the American tourist who is tired of croissants or English breakfasts first thing in the morning. As the name implies it is a Bagel shop… think Noah’s Bagels, but European. The Dutch love this little chain, as they seem to love most things American. If you’re looking for an authentic Dutch experience, however, this is not the place for you. Check out Café Thijssen for a more local experience.
