Five Star Gym – Yucca Valley

The stocky guy at the desk gave me bad info. my first visit, hence my frustration trying to sign up. They still require a contract, which is not cool, by today’s gym standards.
Both water fountains broken with no fix planned apparently.
The lights are very dim… WHY?

I went there to try one of their juices since they have a juice bar inside the gym. From the moment we got there a man said that his «colleague will help us» the colleague was sitting in the bar stool Ignoring us with her phone at hand. When we were ready to order she said they didn’t have spinach only kale so I said okay I want something else. Then she said oh I don’t have such and such so I ended up replacing something for whatever they did have. Finally she yelled someone else’s name, as she was still sitting on the bar and made another employee make our juice. The employee then asked us are you sure you want a juice? We said yes. Like they couldn’t believe we were there to order a damn juice. He then asked the girl sitting on the bar stool if there was any gloves. She said «no» still on her phone. That’s when me and my friend decided to leave. It’s a mediocre juice bar they have At that gym. Avoid. Never will I go in there again. Stick to Jamba Juice although In Yucca Valley you don’t have much options. Their service sucks and whatever left over veggies/​fruits they have are the ones no one likes.

Great ! after 8 months i am really pleased with the staff, facility, and membership, five star is clean well equipped, orderly and two thumbs up to Ron Scott senior national weight lifting champion and fitness counselor who is never two busy to answer a fitness question, and opens on time if not a few minutes early. Just started coming to this particular gym; I was a member in Desert Hot Springs until moving locally. So I had my membership in DHS changed to Yucca Valley. My monthly rate stayed the same, for life!
Well, this gym is 8 years old and could use a makeover. The one in DHS is 20,000 sf and has rooms for free weights, for circuit training, for cardio, etc. also DHS has a sauna and showers with doors, not shower curtains. But I got a good workout, and thankful I can go during the week in the afternoons; gets crowded from 7am to about 1pm, and again from 5pm to 7pm, so I avoid those times. The juice bar is good and the staff seems helpful, if you Smile once in awhile. I haven’t seen too many slackers just sitting on machines others want to use, as is the case in DHS; younger serious crowd here. all in all, I give it 3 stars on my second visit. Maybe I will get accustomed to this venue and up the stars with some written suggestions; there’s a suggestion box at the reception counter.

I was hanging out with my girlfriend who is a local resident and as is my habit I hit the gym in the morning before starting the day. I wish YV had a 24 hour fitness or a LA Fitness gym but alas that is not so. She suggested checking out this gym because it was close by and that she will workout with me. Come to find out YV does not have too many well equipped/​nice gyms but nearby Palm Springs does… go figure. So we got the day pass which was $ 15. It’s a bit steep but I suppose you can charge anything you want when you have almost no competition. We were told that membership was
$ 59.00 per month for the first quarter (must commit to 3 mos contract) then it rolls over into month to month of $ 59.00. I’m like no thanks.
We are impressed with this gym because it was clean and nicely equipped with new and semi new equipment. I can see myself coming back the next time I’m in town.

Terrible place first off, Karrie the manager is a real piece of work, scatter brained, gives you the run around, and is a liar!!! Pretty sad cause there aren’t many options for gyms around here… avoid this place if you can

Today I got a spot from Ron, the 69-​year-​old trainer and powerlifting hall of famer. Nice guy and very willing to help and create a friendly atmosphere in the gym. :)

I recently joined this gym. There is a lot of great equipment as other people have mentioned, and a good variety of classes that are included in the price. I was given a 1 hour personal training session to learn how to use the equipment. It was definitely enough to start. The gym and equipment always seem clean — there are people cleaning literally all the time. I never have to wait to use any of the machines.
I noticed that a lot of the reviews complained about rude staff members, but that was definitely not my experience. Maybe they rectified the problem after reading the reviews, but in any case the entire staff goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

Very interesting, it is a lovely gym but who cleans it? I workout at 5am and the trash is overflowing, cleaner is empty and get this I found gum on my machine I was using. I don’t think it should be the man that works super early responsibility to clean all the restrooms, empty rubbish, sweep, wipe down all the machines and fill paper towels, and clean the Windows by himself. I also workout in the evenings where there are sometimes 3 employees just hanging out behind the counter or working out on the equipment. There should be a system, come on management teach your employees to care and clean or people will stop coming to your gym and demand refunds because it is so nasty…

I had a complaint about the gym when I cancelled, because funds were taken from my account for 2 months after I cancelled. Today I got a personal phone call from the general manager agreeing they would refund the 2 months. I appreciate the attention to customer service. They do not seem to take for granted they are the only gym in town.
I enjoyed using the gym when I was a member, good equipment and good classes.
This is why I am changing my rating and review. Thank you.

Rude manager! i have seen her mistreat their employees. went in to check prices and they take advantage since they are the only gym up there. I suggest to hike, run, or go to the local pool. I will never go in there again.

I have had nothing but great customer service here. Andy was very helpful when I signed up. I had a chance to meet with the manager Karrie and she was friendly and was able to help with me on my problem. She was fair and very easy to talk to.
I had read some reviews before I signed up and was a little hesitant to join the gym.
I know from experience having been in customer service myself for many years that most of us do not take the time to write a review that shares the positive of our experiences with people, but when we are upset we usually take that time.
Today I am taking the time to say thanks to Karrie, the manager, Andy for the great service, and to Susan for the awesome class Silver Sneakers

This is about the masseuse there, Ryan. I had never had a pregnancy massage and was incredibly nervous. Ryan was able to tell and calmed me very quickly. He was very kind and relaxing. He was very professional and did a great job. I would highly recommend him, especially for pregnancy massages.

Went in there to check prices. 20 bucks for some annual fee then 20 bucks a month… that’s alot higher than 24 Hour Fitness via costco. Then I asked if I can go month to month, $ 60 a month! SIXTY! Do I get a sandwich after my workout?! That’s a massive ripoff.
Taking advantage of being the only gym in the area and from what I’ve heard, piss poor management and slow repair time with equipment and lights.

I absolutely love this gym. The people are great. The equipment is great. It’s in the middle of nowhere but they have not lowered their standards for anyone. Spin class with Ruthy is fantastic! I go there 6 times a week, they never disappoint. Thanks five star!
