This place is like a fantasy land. I camped at the Upper Grant Lake after spending the night before at Ten Lakes. Keep in mind there’s not trail to the upper lake, but the unmarked half-scramble up the rocks to the upper lake is totally worth the trouble. Definately more solitude than the smaller lower Grant Lake. Grant Lakes has more depth than the ones at Ten Lakes. And since Grant lakes is open to the west, the entire mountain/lake setting gets bathed in red during sunset. The reverse works as well, in the AM, the mountain is really great at blocking the rising sun so extra ZZZZ for people who sleep late. It was creepy not seeing any animals around, but then again it’s a relief knowing that bears wouldn’t bother you here maybe because it’s so high up, or maybe because they’d be more interested in the more populated campsites on lower grant lake, or both. I cannot wait to come back here!
