My husband, daughter, and I stayed here in March, and we had the best time! I hate to even share the secret of West Yosemite because I don’t want it to be all booked up next time we want to go there, but here I go. .. West Yosemite is near the Badger Pass ski area up the mountain from the Yosemite Valley floor. It takes about 15 or 20 minutes to drive to Yosemite, but the great thing is that you are staying inside the gates! If you stay in West Yosemite, you can rent a whole house for not much more than a room at the Yosemite Falls Lodge and for less than the Awahnee. The food in the Valley is not the best and very expensive, but that is your only option if you stay at one of the park lodgings. Once you add the price of the food, it’s much cheaper to stay in West Yosemite, and so nice to have a house to relax in after a day of hiking. Suite Sunshine is a perfect place for four people to stay while visiting Yosemite. Barbara, the owner, works in the Park and lives downstairs. She is so nice and helpful. The unit is clean and well-maintained with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms, a great view, and lots of sunshine. While we were there it snowed, and watching the snow fall on the pines(or some other mountain timber?) from Suite Sunshine’s windows was delightful. Poetic, even! The kitchen is perfect for preparing a meal for four, with all the equipment you might need. We ate dinner there every night, and we packed a lunch to bring for the day in Yosemite. It was a really great trip, and we would go back and stay at Suite Sunshine in a heartbeat!
