Not a huge fan. The servers seem to only like the regulars and are not friendly to those they don’t know. Not great drinks either. We hopped in for one drink on Friday and left and the same thing on Saturday(one drink then left). Same experience both times. Will not be back.

I was told by the bartender that they don’t serve food at this CRAB house/OYSTER bar. Ok? A name change may be in order.

Great place right offer beach with a Caribbean vibe to it. Super laid back with dogs and a couple children. We stopped by after an afternoon at the beach and grabbed a couple of drinks around 3:30 on a Saturday, about a dozen or so people were hanging out. The bartender was friendly and told us some history about the place and the 5000 dollar bills everywhere. We even decorated our own and posted them to walls! Fun stop!

My husband and I just happened to stumble upon Buddy’s by accident. We were staying in a hotel and had our kids in the hotel kids camp for a few hours to get some adult time. While walking the beautiful beach it started to down pour. We took cover in Buddy’s. The pirate on the outside was an eye catcher to me as I love the whole pirate thing. When we went inside it was a super cool, dive bar with lots of character! dollar bills literally covering all the walls and ceilings, you can write your name on your bill and add it to the collection if you’d like. Great Juke box, good variety of songs, the Beatles, reggae, laid back chill place. Cheep beer. I couldn’t think of a more fun place to spend my tine in the rain. I love the pirate décor and was amused by the look on people’s faces when they were confused while going to the bathroom. I guess some people haven’t figured out yet if they have an inboard or outboard! LOL If I lived near by and had no kids and was younger I could see myself being a «buddy’s regular» but since I have a family now I will just have to settle to go to buddy’s once a year when we take our trip to the Wrightsville Beach. Buddy’s I will see you in two weeks! I can’t wait. For the guy that gave it one star and said it was a «hole in the wall BAR» because his kids couldn’t go in all I have to say is common sense would dictate kids are not allowed in BARS, that should have been his first clue, hello! Buddy’s is awesome! My only complaint this last trip was it was so hot in there, not air-conditioning at buddys lol and I never see anyone eating food so don’t know what’s up with that but I would recommend it more as a drinking bar, I couldn’t see eating there.

Ridiculous. We unpack the kids from the car. Pay $ 5 to park wait 5 minutes in line to find out that this place DOESNOT allow kids!!! Crab House and Oyster Bar my ass. It is a hole in the wall bar! When I asked if they served food(cause we would have gotten it to go) I was told they only had shrimp and it would take a long time to get. Seriously??? You can bite me

It’s a typical beach bar and more for adults than families and kids. We’ve been to the one in Surf City, NC a number of times and decided to give this one a try. Barkeep — don’t know her name, but tall, blonde and from Raleigh. Perky personality, friendly, attentive and on top of her game. We were there about 3 hours over the lunch rush and as the crowd increased, she kept everyone happy. She enjoys her job and it shows! Good job! We ordered from the limited lunch menu. Its name is «crab house and oyster bar», but the only seafood was peel and eat shrimp. We had cheeseburgers. They were good. Perhaps the dinner menu includes other seafood? Yes, we’ll stop by again.

If I’m going to Wrightsville Beach, I’m going to Buddy’s. We hit up this beach bar every time. Usually, multiple times. Super fun dive bar. The place is covered(seriously, walls and ceiling… covered) with signed dollar bills from guests. We usually just grab drinks and shots here. Our most recent visit we got steamed clams and shrimp. I was impressed by the amount of shrimp that came in the order. They also a warming case of hot dogs… including bacon wrapped hot dogs. ‘Merica. Don’t get confused by the bathrooms. They say inboards and outboards on them. I always giggle watching people walk to the doors and stare blankly. Laid back, chill vibe. There are always a bunch of great drink specials. If you make a trip to Wrightsville Beach, make sure you pop into Buddy’s.

Stayed at Wrightsville Beach for a week in October and was on the hunt for a chill, local bar. Found Buddy’s on Unilocal, and learned from the other Unilocaler’s that they don’t serve oysters there, which is weird. But that would be my only complaint. This was a super divey bar with a good beer selection, and a cool vibe. Come here to hang with the locals, not for the oysters.

In spite of the place’s name and the menu on their web site, there’s no food at Buddy’s. It’s very«rustic» and doesn’t look like a great place for food anyway.

We went for dinner on May 6th. No food in the off season. I wasted 2.00 on parking since there is nothing else nearby.

After a day of laying out on the beach nothing beats some fresh caught oysters, a view overlooking the beach, with a bucket of beer, and reggae music. need I say more!

[booze review only] Cheap, cheap beers – a PBR& Coors was only $ 5. Lots of young/college kids. Dollar bills all over the walls, ceilings, everywhere. It’s right by the beach and it’s a dive bar but it’s fun, loud, and did I mention cheap?
