Do not buy produce here. I have had two bad experiences here with crappy vegetables. There won’t be a third try. Shop and Save is much closer and their produce looks awesome.

Like the other low reviews here, my complaint is about their exceptionally rude pharmacist. I had never used Jewel-Osco to fill a prescription, but thought I’d give them a try since they are close to my house and have convenient hours. Didn’t have any issue with the drop-off, and the technicians are all really nice. When I went to pick up my prescription, the technician indicated there were a few more things to verify, and asked if I could step aside for a moment to an adjacent register, so he could help the customers waiting behind me. No problem, and I did so accordingly. Next thing I know, the pharmacist(a female) comes at me, eyes blazing, and barks out«YOUCAN’T STANDTHERE, ITS A HIPPAVIOLATION! MOVE!!!» No kindness, no «please,» just yelling. I was actually embarrassed for her, as many other customers saw her little tantrum. Speechless, I quickly walk away. A few minutes later, I return to pick-up my prescription and stand in line. The technician calls me to the counter, at the exact same register I had been yelled at. Nervous of the pharmacist’s wrath, I ask the technician if he is sure it’s okay for me to check-out at that particular register, since the pharmacist had indicated it was a HIPPA violation. At this point, the pharmacist stops helping her poor customer, looks over at me and rages«YOUWEREBREAKINGHIPPAVIOLATIONBYSTANDINGTHEREEARLIER!!! But you can pay for prescription there now.» Then rolls her eyes, let’s out an exasperated sigh, and goes back to helping her customer. Excuse me? If it was a HIPPA violation 10 minutes ago, why is it not now? You still have a customer standing right there, two feet away — and I can see his prescription, and hear all the directions you’re giving him regarding it. Do HIPPA regulations change based on the pharmacist’s mood that day? Needless to say, this is the first and last time I’ll fill a prescription at Jewel-Osco. I’ll stick with Walgreens going forward.

I feel like most jewels are unorganized and hard to shop in. But this jewel is particularly rough. And the staff was rude! My cashier insinuated that I was trying to use a fake ID when buying alcohol and said she would«do it anyway». I’m 23 and was super insulted. So rude.

PHARMACYREVIEW: I went in, waited at the counter at about 11 pm, and the Pharmacist(Frank) was preoccupied at the drive through window. After 5 minutes of waiting, he rudely acknowledged me and told me to wait longer. No one else was in line. I would have been okay with waiting if he were more polite, but I assure you that I will be taking my prescriptions elsewhere, as I have had more enjoyable experiences at Walgreens.

I’ve been coming here for over a decade and my experiences have always been good. I think it’s kept pretty clean and parking isn’t an issue. Recently, they just renovated so everything looks like it’s been upgraded and more sharp. There’s a TCF bank inside which has been around for years, finally, the lines will no longer go out and block aisle traffic. When you walk in, grocery is on your right, CVS/pharmcy will be on your left. In general, I find Jewel prices are a little higher than Walmart and Target, but if its convenient, then you might as well just save some gas money and buy it here. Just look for the sales and yellow tags items. Of course, you should get the Jewel preferred card, no question if you shop here. If you’re an out-of-towner, or if you’re just too stubborn to get a card, then you will pay about double. Just get the card :)

The store itself and the employees are very nice. They did a very Nice job remodeling this store. That being said, I don’t usually go here. Jewel’s prices are much higher than other grocery stores in the area. I will only stop at this store if I’m in a pinch. But that has nothing to do with the store itself, just prices.

Does anyone remember how Jewel used to be? Remember the fair prices, the courteous help, the full-service grocer that made them famous and, quite honestly, the«jewel» of grocery chains in Chicago? Well, it’s great that you remember, because no one there seems to. Prices: ridiculously high. Why would I come here to pay over $ 3.00 for a gallon of their milk when Meijer or Aldi have it for about $ 2.00? Their sales don’t make any sense. Only a select number of items are on sale every week, but that doesn’t help the family that buys certain items(like, again, milk) consistently. The preferred card savings = the regular non-sale price at competitors. Fresh shops: The produce is good, but, again, pricey, and not nearly as large a selection as fresh markets. Be prepared to wait at any other department you visit. The deli, also overpriced, is always a ten minute wait or longer as it’s never properly staffed for the volume of people who [surprisingly] visit it. I will say this, though: Jewel’s bakery is still outstanding. Who doesn’t get excited when they see a Jewel birthday cake? You know damn well it’s gonna be good! Center store: Again, high prices, but a major con is that they’re always stocking and/or facing the shelves in the middle of the day(or worse, between 4 and 6 when it’s packed), and while I realize the shelves need to be full, it’s a great inconvenience. Either the aisles have to be wider, or they need to stock the shelves full at the beginning of the day. Checkout: Always an issue. I might as well shop at Aldi, because at this«full service» grocery store, I’ll not only be bagging my own groceries, but I’ll be checking them out myself, too. The lines are long, whether you go through the self checkouts or not. Good luck trying to get help at the service counter. Customer service in general is hit-or-miss. The management seems nice, the pharmacists are great, the senior employees know what they’re doing. But you’ll always run into the employees who stopped caring or are too focused on what they’re doing to help you. I think it’s an indicator of how the company’s run. They’ve been stripping away what used to make Jewel more involved with their customers, like taking down the bulletin board, cutting the staff, discontinuing many seemingly well-shopped items. I feel nothing but sympathy to the dedicated employees who have worked there for years are constantly take the full burden of the job when upper management keeps cutting the staff and raising the prices to line their pockets. It’s no wonder there’s no help — the people who are working there are burned out from being stretched too thin!

I really enjoy shopping at this store. It is clean and the employees are very pleasant. I have found Osco to be very helpful because I have special ordered many products. They always deliver. Infrequently there might be a wayward Naperville shopper who tries to ruin the shopping experience, but their entitled selves have been sent on their way back to Naperville to ruin someone else’s shopping experience. Note: we don’t want you here unless you play nice and act in an appropriate manner.
