Not appro pos of the Woodland Hills store but of ALL of them. W-​S is vastly over price and under stocked. NOT a place for serious cooks. There was a time when it was but that was more than 10 years ago and now they’ve gone totally yuppie and ridiculous. I am *offended* to walk in there and see turkey brine ($ 1-​worth of kosher salt and herbs) for $ 16 and not be able to find a basic piece of kitchen equipment at a reasonable price or a staff member who can tell you anything about brining a turkey.
Sur la Table certainly takes themselves a little too seriously too but at least they have what you go into a cookware place to get and a variety of choices. Or do yourself a real favor and go to Surfas in Culver City and get real stuff at real prices and difficult to locate ingredients and equipment that make your own cooking memorable.
