Being a hotel snob that I am, I truly wouldn’t know how to rate a MOTEL with five stars. Anyhow, I came here with my Entire family in July. Quick history: My family has been coming to the dells every summer for the past twenty years now. The last time I came here with them, I was like 12 or 13… over ten years ago. My cousin twisted my arm into going this summer for some family fun time. I agreed. I was shocked to see that my family still comes to the same motel for the past twenty years. Kinda strange, I know. I was dreading coming to this motel. Now when i arrived at the shamrock, I was very pleased with the customer service. The staff new my entire family members names. Mind you, we arrived 30 – 40 people deep. The staff was very warm. The owners who run the entire place are very hard working and were kind to us. When I walked in my room, I wasn’t surprised, very typical motel furniture and beddings. But the rooms were super clean. The bathrooms looked remodeled and my cousin confirmed this knowing the past look. It was standard but very clean. For a motel, this place is really decent. The only thing I would recommend to the owners is to improve the look of the room by changing the bedding and sheets. They are very old. The sheets and comforter need to be more modern. If this change occurred it would make a HUGE difference. Visitors would get a better vibe, I think. The outdoor pool is decent. Indoor pool and jaquazzi too. Very Decent for a motel. For a motel, I give it 4 stars. You cant expect much from a motel though. Stay at a hotel if you have bigger expectations.

THEWORST Motel I have ever been at. The staff was heartless(a very long story to follow) The staff had very poor English skills The room was dirty, Bathroom window was broken, drapery torn, blankets thread barren, in July the air conditioner barely worked and in order to turn it up you had to climb onto the table to reach the control knobs .All the outside statuary was faded with paint chips hanging. The only positive was the pool was clean, the water not to cold. Stay away! My story, I made and paid for a room(via phone) for July 2,2011 for myself and my 8 y/o granddaughter I asked for a first floor room(they have no elevator and for for health reasons the stairs can be difficult) after a fun but tiring Amtrak ride and a short cab ride we arrived at the shamrock I was informed that due to the holiday weekend there was a 3 day minimal stay or just pay. After a very strong objection I was told to pay(even thought i had a reservation at a resort for the rest of my trip) or leave, so I left on foot in the dark and walked up and down the strip looking for a room for the night 8 y/o granddaughter in tow and couldn’t find another room for the night we called ever hotel/motel, even the chamber of commence was making calls and NO room we had to go back to the shamrock and pay for 3 nights to stay the one night at the DUMP of a motel. STAYAWAY
