When I said «don’t go there,» I didn’t seriously mean it, people!!!

I LOVE bakeries and sweets and, as a result, had to check out Ballard & Corum when I heard about it through friends. They went on and on about how awesome their cookies, cakes and cupcakes were, which made me so excited to go there. Unfortunately, I can’t say I agree with them on all levels.
Upon entering this small bakery you are greeted with the smell of fresh baked goods and nonchalantly greeted by whoever is behind the counter. Glass cases line both side of the counter with a glass fridge on the side holding drinks and other baked items. You can also see the kitchen area and everything that is being made. I happened to go in the afternoon and clearly that’s the worse time to go because they didn’t have anything but a few cookies and a slice of cake available to purchase. It was also around the holidays so perhaps that was why. Whatever the case was, I was immediately disappointed when I saw their lack of baked goods in the empty glass cases.
The cookies were okay, but nothing specials in comparison to others I’ve had. The prices listed on their menu seemed average, but I can’t tell you if it’s worth it because I haven’t had the chance to sample much. I have had a bunt cake of sorts that was caramelized in brown sugar and pecans… that was amazing. However, the few times I went in after the first visit, their selection was still lacking. I guess it’s hit or miss.
Overall, it’s okay. You be the judge.
