Waffle House

I have driven by this Waffle House so many times and never stopped in. Well on Wednesday night that changed! If you haven’t seen the video for Anthony Bourdain’s visit to Waffle House google it, it is worth the watch. The video was my inspiration for finally stopping in. «It is indeed marvelous, and irony free zone where everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.. . Its warm yellow glow a beacon of hope and salvation.» They have stuffed hash browns?! I had no idea! I went for a pecan waffle and hash browns smothered, covered, and chunked. I was not disappointed (I did feel weird ordering them though)! The pecan waffle was tasty and the whole restaurant smelt like waffle baking deliciousness. The prices are also insanely reasonable.
I found it interesting that they put the calorie counts next to each menu item. You probably really don’t want to know the calorie count when you are at Waffle House, but you can’t really avoid it.

Over the past 5 years my friends and I have frequented this Waffle House many times and I must say my experiences have ranged from great to awful. You may think that the experience is based on the other patrons in the restaurant? Wrong. The enjoyment of the experience hinges on one thing and one thing only, and that thing (person) is an employee named Starla. While I understand getting reliable employees nowadays is a struggle, why she still has a job here is unbeknownst to me. This review isn’t after one bad experience, this is after 20. I’ve been to this location around 30 times and had Starla for about two thirds of my trips. Never have I encountered an employee who seems so utterly disgusted by her job than Starla. Could it be because I’m a young adult coming in at all times of the night? Maybe. Regardless, the way she treats customers is baffling. Not only is she brutally terse but she is also wildly unpleasant. Her body language alone makes you feel as if she’d rather be doing anything at that moment other than waiting on you, but she is downright rude. On multiple occasions she has barked orders at me to give her my menu or my drink instead of asking nicely, or ripped my plate out from under my hands as I was talking without asking if I were done. This is blatantly unprofessional and unacceptable at any establishment. The rest of the staff makes you feel welcoming and has never caused me or my friends any problems but this one employee is a plague to the Waffle House name and should be dealt with accordingly.

I’m a sucker for a good waffle. It’s one of those things that most folks think is hard to screw up. I’m here to let you know that it is easier to mess up a waffle than you might think. Anywho, one morning right before work I was craving a waffle. I stopped in and was met with a smile and a warm greeting. In some places that are smaller like Waffle House, you can get more genuine personal attention that you could if you went to a 5-​star restaurant.
The waffle was actually just average but what can you expect for $ 1.50. The service was what made my morning.

We been here many time, we I will say depends who is serving your food or cook your food, it would be bad or be nice.

It’s a Waffle House: good, simple breakfast food. The location is in a good place, convenient location. Staff can be hit or miss. I mean, it’s a Waffle House, nuff said.

I have zero qualms about walking into a Waffle House for good, simple, breakfast food. There is actually something kinda comforting in sitting at the bar and watching the cook grab all the ingredients and make them in front of you.
I was feeling particularly famished when I stopped into the Casa De Waffle late the other afternoon.
I ordered a egg and cheese biscuit, hashbrowns, and chocolate chip waffle.
No frills, right. But good basic food. Biscuit was soft, egg cooked well, and cheese melted.
Hashbrowns scattered across the flat top and then I topped them with some hot sauce and ketchup. BIG chocolate chip waffle that I let set for a few minutes to allow the chocolate chips to get melty and gooey.
The service was great too.
I was stuffed and got out of there for &8 (not including tip).
It’s not always my first choice, but I appreciate the things that Waffle House does well. Keep it up WH!

The food is standard Waffle House, but the downside to this place is the staff feel the need to complain incessantly about their jobs and their coworkers every time I’m there. I know it’s not your dream job, but it makes all the customers feel weird when we have to listen to it. It doesn’t make me want to tip you much either.
