Billy Bob’s Silver Diner

Not my favorite dinner. The food is what you would expect and they options for ice cream/​milkshakes is decent. However, I ordered a side of fruit with my breakfast and when it arrived it was browning and soggy. I hate to ever put up a stink about what I choose to order but since it was fruit I didn’t want to consume it, I asked for a side of cheese grits instead and apologized to the waitress. She seemed annoyed that I said anything and did not apologize to me or anything of the sort. She brought the grits on a huff and that was enough to make not want to return. However I’m sure I will as my sister loves the place, maybe next time I will have a better experience.

I forgot how good this place was until I recently stopped in for dinner after shopping one day in Winston. I hadn’t been to it since about 2005 because I have moved out of Winston. The place was clean and the waitress was wonderful and on top of things! She seemed to know the regulars. I had the dinner special which was smothered chicken. It arrived warm with lots of melted cheese and mushroom and onions on top!!! Very tasty. My side of macaroni was perfect too. It was the thick spiral kind covered in creamy cheese.
This place hit all my big 3’s… Great price points, Good Food and staff. Def check out this little dinner if you haven’t yet.

Terrible… service that is… waited 15 minutes to be acknowedged by a server. When we left my wife told the manager how long we waited and why we were leaving. the response was not «sorry how can I fix this for you»…it was simply «good bye have a nice day»
Will not return… too many other choices

Well this place took a steep and dramatic turn for the worse.
Service was terrible. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen. Coffee was never refilled.
Food was terrible. I ordered a Mexican omelet and they managed to burn it all the way through. Tasted absolutely disgusting. I took one bite and wanted to vomit. I sent it back and at least they didn’t charge me for it.
They’ve forgotten how to make biscuits! Biscuits were flat and dense, the idiot in the kitchen had obviously worked and recycled the dough too many times.
Hash browns were underdone and greasy.
Even the pancakes were screwed up. They were dense and bitter, not light and fluffy with a hint of malt like they used to make.
The place was dirty and poorly kept, with a whiff of stale garbage as you walk in.
I guess they’re going through some hard times now, hopefully the next owners will do a better job.

This place is pretty much what you expect from a retro style diner that serves breakfast all day (remainder of the menu is available from 11 AM on). It’s bright and shiny outside, colorful and clean inside. The booths are very roomy, but not at all comfortable. The menu is broad, including all the usual breakfast items (even Liver Mush), a few lunch plates, salads & pasta dishes, all manner of sandwiches and sides, milk shakes and ice cream, and even beer and wine.
We came for a late breakfast, so we opted for Billy Bob’s Big Plate ($ 7.59) and Corned Beef Hash with 2 eggs and Home Fries ($ 5.59). The food was out of the kitchen quickly, the eggs on both plates were cooked perfectly as ordered. The pancakes were really excellent, lite and full of flavor. The Corned Beef Hash was nice, as well. The only off note was the Home Fries, they were greatly overcooked, almost black in color.
There is a tremendous amount of food on these 2 plates, and the pricing makes them both real value meals. The service was nice, friendly and efficient. We’ll be back, perhaps for a lunch with a burger and a milkshake.

I am really surprised that I have not reviewed this place yet! I have been here 3x so far!!! We LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
The building is retro and fun. There is a TON of seating and we have not had to wait to get a table– even when we came here on a Sunday after church.
I admit, I have not sampled much of their menu as I get the Decon Club every time I come! The portion for this sandwich is huge and I usually bring ½ of it home. The fries are fantastic and go with those but my husband likes their hot chips.
Service is usually quick and the waitresses are always friendly.
Prices are very reasonable. I came by myself at lunch and got the club with a water and the bill was $ 8. My husband and parents have shared their «bucket of beer» in which you get 6 beers for $ 10!!! Can’t beat that price!
We do want to try their breakfast sometime. We will definitely be back!!!
