This is my family’s go to spot for cheap japanese food. Service is friendly and fast. I’ve had quite a lot of the sushi here, and so far no disappointment. Sushi is fresh and has good rice to fish ratio. My mom always gets the udon, which is super hot with a clean taste. My dad always gets the hibachi chicken and rice, which is a lot less saltier than other japanese places.

This wasn’t good at all. I had a business meeting here and had heard the sushi was fairly good. I wasn’t overly impressed with their selections as it was but gave it a shot anyway. Our server was aloof and really didn’t seem to want to be bothered with waiting on our table. This was a bad sign already. The sushi was awful. As in, eat three pieces and stop before getting sick, kind of awful. I can’t recall the names of these rolls right now but I do know it was two of the only tempura rolls on the menu. First, they weren’t rolled tightly at all and each time I went to pick them up, everything fell out. Secondly, the batter of the tempura was under-cooked which gave it a very bland and gritty taste. The fish inside was not fresh. I ate three pieces to-go because I didn’t want to send it back while at a business meeting. I threw it away as soon as I got home. I won’t go back.

I find it amazing the range of ratings this place receives. It has always been spot on when I come for their sushi. Actually, I am consistently surprised at how good it is. Never would I thought that a little place in a strip mall on the border of Davidson and Forsyth county would be so good. The sushi has always been consistently great. I lean towards the rainbow roll most of the time. As well as the spicy tuna. There are many other items I want to try soon. There is a small sushi bar in the back that I would like to sit one time soon as I have always sat at a table. The servers have always been polite. The only gripe I have and this is mainly because I work from home and rely completely on Internet service is that they do not have wifi. With a common special at lunch of buy 1 roll get 1 at ½ price I would make this place a regular home office. 6Apr16: once again updating my review to 5 star. Love this place. Amazing Sushi. The sushi chefs are so friendly and will teach you about many options and the menu.

So gross. This was my second visit and both times came home sick. After the first time, I gave it a second chance last night because it was nearby and I was in the mood for phở. Everything tastes«weird,» not like other japanese restaurants. The ginger sauce on the salad, the gyoza, and even the phở, just a strange and nasty taste. Small plate of «stuff“‘(sprouts, jalepenos, basil» for 2 to share for the phở and all drenched in water that made a mess when we went to pick it up. No limes; lemons. One star for the waitress that kept water glasses full, although after she dropped off the check and we waited for what seemed like a long time, we decided to pay at the way out. There was the waitress, standing at the cashier’s stand on her phone. When I commented that the bill seemed higher than expected, before the cashier could even start to check it, the waitress started apologizing profusely. I don’t believe it was an accident. We’ll be back if it’s the only place left in town to eat and we need a «cleanse.» Never again to try to enjoy dinner.

I came by because 1. I was craving sushi 2. Someone had recommend this place to me 3. It was near the house. Service was okay. It took a while to get the sushi out. I ordered a few different rolls. I must have missed the part where it said half of the Cali roll would be tobiko; which I can’t stand! Our salmon skin roll was falling apart by the time we started eating. Some of the other rolls were falling apart too. The best roll had to be the Philly roll. I will definitely be sticking to my usual place.

Was expecting hibachi tables, but even without them it was delicious good service and generous portions for the price. We will definitely be back here.

Excellent hibachi chicken, shrimp and salmon. The soba noodles are excellent. The plates and combination plates come with a soup or salad which most places make you pay extra for so that’s a nice perk. Good dipping sauces especially the mustard and white sauce. Repeat customer!

The Crazy TNT Rill is amazing. The service is slow but it is worth the wait. If you enjoy white sauce there is a roll for you of not then there are plenty of rolls for you. The staff is very nice even when the sushi chef is slow.

I had to add a star to my review after trying the sushi. I thought the sushi was pretty good and would order it again. They have a smaller version of the rainbow roll which I ordered and a salmon hand roll with avocado and cucumber. They put lettuce in it so next time I would ask them to leave it out. I’m happy I have a go to sushi and Japanese place near my house.

Where to start, it wasn’t amazing, nor great, or good, and I’m not sure ok is the right word. I had teriyaki«steak», fried rice, veggies, and soup. My wife had hibachi chicken, white rice, veggies, and soup. One of my kids had the children’s chicken tenders and fried potato wedges, the other had the kids hibachi chicken. The mushroom soup could have just been warm water with scallions and mushrooms. There was no flavor what so ever. My wife and I tried several different things on the table to give it flavor, but dish water soup was for us. Someone at the table had a house salad and the ginger dressing and it was meh. When the plates arrived I looked at my kids hibachi plate, and then mine. I’m almost certain we had about the same amount of meat, but they had less rice. My order was on this HUGE plate, especially for the little amount of food, it looked very lost. The beef had no flavor, and as others have said clearly a cheap cut of beef. The teriyaki sauce had this really odd texture to it, apart like honey, however the sauce had no flavor what so ever. The fried rice was beyond dry, and desperately needed something. The white sauce was ok, but a little runny. The veggies, especially the onion were good. Service was great, very nice and on top of everything. It sad to say the best thing to eat was the fried potato wedges, which are easily the best ones I have ever had. I don’t believe I will come back.

I’m honestly not sure how Miyako’s has gotten so many high reviews unless their sushi is just out of this world. My girlfriend and I went on Friday night around 8:30. It wasn’t too crowded, maybe 7 or 8 tables. There only seemed to be one waiter working, but we were seated and had our drinks and orders placed in a timely manner. We both ordered soup, and it came fairly quickly. Her mushroom soup was about as flavorless as they come, and my miso soup wasn’t much better. Our meals came without too much delay. I love Japanese food and was starving, so I got steak, shrimp, and scallops, along with fried rice and zucchini and onions. My girlfriend went for the teriyaki chicken w/mixed vegetables. The fried rice that we got was easily the worst fried rice I’ve ever eaten in any restaurant ever in my life. It was a sticky, clumpy mess. It had an off flavor to it, unlike any other fried rice I’ve ever eaten. I’ve literally sat here for 5 minutes straight trying to come up with an accurate description of what that rice tasted like, and dreadful sums it up about perfectly. I love rice and I’m not super picky but for the first time I can remember, I left rice on a plate. A lot of it. The vegetables were much better than the rice. Onions were cooked well as was the zucchini. Not really much else to say, vegetables are vegetables I guess. All of my meat came on a separate plate and it was all bathed in some sort of teriyaki sauce that I didn’t ask for and have never seen done in any other Japanese restaurant. It didn’t take me long to find out why they’d done this though, because the steak was completely bland. I’m sure they don’t exactly use the best cuts of beef but you can make any cut of meat tasty with the right seasoning. It was clear to me that they simply cut an unseasoned steak into cubes and let all the juices piss right out of it on the grill until it was dry and tough. Then slathered it in teriyaki sauce and plated it. Very disappointing. The scallops were also coated in teriyaki and we’re all different sizes, meaning very few were cooked the same. The smaller ones were overcooked and rubbery and the larger ones were damn near raw. I could also tell that they were frozen. The larger ones were stone cold in the middle and had that distinct taste. All in all, the scallops were bland, poorly cooked, and only really tasted of teriyaki. The shrimp were probably the best of the three, but that isn’t really saying much. At least the tails had been removed I suppose. Again, bland and masked by teriyaki sauce, but edible. My girlfriend’s teriyaki chicken was very dry and didn’t have hardly any flavor. Long story short, the meats were all overcooked minus the larger scallops and everything was coated in teriyaki so that’s all the flavor you got. Our waiter did okay despite the fact he was the only one and he was working 7 tables all over the restaurant. Never missed a refill or stayed gone too long until he forgot to bring the check, so I had to get up and find him to ask for it after about 10 minutes of just sitting there. He quickly got up from the bar and got it for us though, so I’m not gonna judge that too hard. Our meal ended up being $ 32. We only went to Miyako’s because we couldn’t get reservations at Arigato’s and I wanted to give this smaller Japanese restaurant a shot. In retrospect, I wish I’d have just settled with Tokyo or Kanpai. For what I ended up paying, I would have much rather threw in another $ 10 or so to go to an actual Japanese steakhouse. Unless you enjoy sushi and Miyako’s somehow is only good at food the chefs don’t actually have to cook, I would not recommend it.

This is the second time I have tried Miyako, and both times I came away with the same impression. This is a little Japanese restaurant in a strip mall with a Mexican restaurant and a pizzeria on the other side. The service was ok, not exceptional but the waitress smiled and was pleasant and attentive. perhaps this was because we were one of her 2 tables but I will be thankful for the service. Our waitress did try and serve us a glass of chardonnay warmed to room temperature. Not necessarily a big thing, but for me wine service is an important thing. We sat at the bar and ate sushi, for starters we ordered the baby octopus salad, and spicy tuna salad. Of the two, hands down winner is the tuna. the baby octopus seemed to be stored in some sort of pickling brine, very rubbery and«off» tasting. Afterward we ordered 3 rolls, a Fiesta roll, Samurai roll, & Philly roll. The were«good» but for some reason or another we felt that the fish just didn’t seem as fresh as we are accustomed to getting at other locations. Of the 3, the Samurai was the best, with lots of different kinds of textures and tastes. I would rate this 2 ½ stars but when I want sushi again I will try elsewhere.

Great place! My friend and I sat at the bar. We were able to watch the sushi being made! We ordered gyoza, sashimi, and sushi. The gyoza was amazing! Seriously. Beef packed filled lightly fried dumplings. He enjoyed his sashimi. My two sushi rolls were amazing! If you want great sushi in Winston, head over to Miyako!

My family and I have ate at Miyako for several years. When it first opened it was the best Japanese food at very reasonable prices. Not to mention it’s in our small community not far from our home. The last several times we have ate in or got take out the quality of the food has really gone down hill. I’ve never wrote a review because I usually give ppl a chance. But the takeout meal we got tonite really takes the cake. And I hope the owners see this to help them improve on the quality of their food. I got terriaki chicken with what was supposed to be sauté onions the onions were hard like they just cut them and put them in right b4 throwing in the box. The chicken literally had NO flavor no seasoning and was swimming in something that I think was suppose to be terriaki sauce. The rice was sticky the salad was brown. This is very disappointing and just to let these ppl know there are lots of restaurants around and if the service and quality of the food stays this way you will NOT be in business much longer.

Probably the best place I have had sushi in the triad. The hibachi isn’t the best for sure but if you are looking for sushi you can’t beat this me and my gf usually go once a month. I have tried about 30 other places in the triad and this is hands down the best sushi we have had. This is also one of the cheaper places to get sushi from. It’s a small place. The guy who is a waiter recognizes me every time I go in and they are always extremely friendly service. I recommend this to all my friends and family.

Ok so after going back I am raising my review to 3 stars from one. My family dragged me back here and I have to say, the food was good. The rolls where not falling apart, the ingredients seemed a lot fresher, and I was impressed with the variation imagination that went into the rolls. The service was not the best but not horrible. We were there when there was only one server for the entire restaurant in between lunch and dinner. So I’m going to cut them a little slack.

We were in the Winston area this evening and decided to stop in here and give it a try. Miyako was busier than we expected and seem to have a lot of business. The staff was friendly. The sushi was fresh and the rolls were average. We ordered the Rainbow, Galaxie and Dynamite rolls. Not the best but not the worst. I guess we’re in the middle of the road with this one…
