I used to work in Windsor, and I went there every week. Almost every time I ordered Jar Jiang Mein. It’s genuine spicy, not fake spicy flavor that some Chinese restaurants give. Real Jar Jian Mein from Korean restaurants won’t taste like here, but still their version is tasty. Other dishes I’ve tried are Sar char mei fun, chicken spinach noodle soup. They are ok, very mild. Their portion is huge compared to their price. I miss there a lot :)

Type of order: pick up only Food Quality: some stuff great, some stuff so what. House Lo Mein is killer. Most other stuff is run of the mill Beer Selection: As many Hot Sauce packets as you can take(FREE) Service: incredibly angry take out guy. Always super intense. Atmosphere: You break it, you buy it. No joke. Paraphrasing something on the wall. Prices: Honestly a bit overpriced. I may have been overcharged for looking the take out guy in the eye, though. Entertainment: watching newB customers get yelled at by the take out guy. Overall Experience: I will continue to pick up from here, but have learned my lesson. Don’t get smart here. Recommend Rating: for locals, it’s solid. Nothing unreal, but worth peeing your pants a little when you eventually get yelled at when picking up food. Btw, calling in is equally scary.

Always consistently consistent! They have the best hot and sour soup in all my years of trying it ! I’ve never had a bad meal. Over tenssss of visits, I can attest, they’re the go-to for the area.

The South East Asia taste is pretty good on all the noodles dishes. One thing about the order taker, may be can use some smile.

Three years ago, we brought home meal for four. I took the cover off of my Lo-mein, only to see a brown triangle staring out at me. A large brown ROACH, face down was stuck in top. My Husband, packed it all up and brought it back. The fellow behind counter acted as if he didn’t know what the problem was. Only when he was SHOWN in front of several customers, did we receive a refund. We have not returned since.

There was hair in my food. The Coconut Chicken and the Pad Thai had no flavor. Will not be going back.

This place was actually pretty good. Shrimp spring roll was excellent, egg rolls were crispy and delicious, fried rice was solid and general tso chicken was amazing. They even had quality chopsticks, I’ve found the most places skip on the chop sticks. I feel like if you get good chop sticks the food is going to be better. Anyways, I would take anyone here.

The girl and I stopped by when passing through town. She had raved about this curried noodle dish for a while and I just had to try it. The dish turned out to be the Malay curry noodles, and yes, they were worth a short detour to eat. The Good: A wonderfully diverse menu, and very different from the standard fare. Definitely a malaysian influenced mix of dishes. Five stars for the menu options! The food was good, but not outstanding. In the Malay Curry Noodles, loved the noodles and sauce, and the wonderful tiny shrimps rocked my socks off. Since Char Koon is in a big shopping plaza, there is plenty of parking. There are some tables and a fun décor, but its rather small over all and you can tell it is better suited for take-out orders. The Bad: Some of the dishes have quite a few«extras» not listed in the descriptions. My Malay Curry Noodle was overrun by fungus. Mushrooms everywhere! I’m not a fan, but luckily the girl is, so they didn’t go to waste. The Ugly: Prices are a little high, and you can’t order smaller portion sizes. Everything is what it is. Overall, Char Koon is a nice little place and if I lived in Windsor, I’d probably order from here regularly. But since I don’t, I wont.

This place is great and close by. They give a good amount of food I like that they have a lot of vegetarian dishes and even if you like something that has meat they are more then happy to make it vegetarian for you. I like the Kari Sayur my wife’s favorite is the Singapore Street noodles which are very spicy and flavorful. I would recommend this place if you like Chinese food. Enjoy!

Very small restaurant, unfriendly staff I went there for lunch and tried the pepper steak lunch special the dish was nice. I got a egg roll on the side which seemed to be refried many times and it smelled stale. May go there one more time and try some other dishes and see how it is. The staff should get trained on hospitality.

I’ve been a customer ever since I moved to CT from Southern California; at the time it was one of only two Chinese restaurants in the northeast area of Windsor. Char Koon appears to remain busy throughout the day(and late into the evening on weekends and weekdays), which is a testament to its«pretty-darn-good”-ness and consistency. We get take-out 99.9% of the time. We call in our order about 15 – 20 minutes beforehand, and by the time we arrive, Char Koon always manages to pack all items very securely, replete with complimentary fried wontons and a variety of sauces, neatly packed into a mini-plastic bag. Favorite appetizers include the BBQ spareribs(with bone-in) and Beef Satay. The Shrimp Lo Mein has lots of succulent shrimp and it’s cooked with lots of garlic — just the way we like it. The Grilled Jumbo Shrimp with Rice Noodles(Vietnamese Style) is always, always excellent. As far as entrees, we tend to favor their«Southeast Asian Corner» menu items. Our entrée favorites include the Eggplant Nyonya Style and Pan Fried Salmon with Thai Sauce — though we rarely order both at the same time because the portion sizes are huge. The entrees are big enough to share between two-to-three people. We always ask for an extra helping of white rice because the rice that comes with each entrée isn’t enough for anyone who loves rice in every spoonful. An honorable mention goes to their venerable Chinese dish, Kung Pao Chicken(or Kung Pao Shrimp) — except I ask for extra peanuts and ask them to hold all the veggies. It’s not as authentic as other Kung Pao dishes that I’ve had, but it’s close enough for Windsor! There is ample parking; if you choose to dine in, the dining room is kitschy, comfortable and they offer free water with clean cutlery(or chopsticks).

What do I want out of my Chinese eatery? Decent fried rice, greasy noodles, and some tasty deep fried chicken wings. This place seems to hit the trifecta so I’m going to give it a good mark. Fried rice in particular has some nice and voluptuous shrimp but it could have more soy sauce or salt. It’s lacking that sodium kick I’m yearning for but it has all the right ingredients. I will continue swinging by this location on my way to the airport for grub. Bradley doesn’t have quality food choices unfortunately.

Extremely solid Chinese take out or eat in. Ate here once, impressed with the quality and spiciness. The service seemed congenial, I mean, you order all at once so as long as they don’t mess up your order does it really matter how amicable they are? The Singapore rice noodles were great. Egg roll and hot & sour soup — also great. If I were craving Chinese I would happily eat here again. Décor inside is sparse but cute/funny. Good lunch special.
