Pickle Works is a welcoming diner that makes you feel apart of the family. It’s a local gem that you must visit if you’re in or passing through Windsor Locks. Try the Meat Lovers Omelette it is my absolute favorite!

Just had breakfast and is still amazing. They are doing some changes on the menu and the interior so watch out! So glad to see this family business still going at it. Feels like I never left!

Strictly on customer service. Just tried to call and place an order for 10 sandwiches, too busy to handle it… didn’t even ask me when I wanted them for, just too busy to do it. So beware if you try to go here they start turning away lunch orders at 10:15 am.

I went in looking for a good place for a typical American diner breakfast. The food here was ok, but barely. The bacon was sliced really thin and had a vaguely oily, off taste. The sausage links were good, as was the hand sliced white bread toast, but the scrambled eggs were chalky and tasteless. The hashbrowns were well seasoned, but the uniform small cubes of potatoes looked like they may have come out of a freezer bag. The place was clean and the décor was homey. Service was nice and friendly. The portions were very generous, but then the prices were kind of high. I paid $ 13.61 before tip for breakfast and coffee. I may come back and give it another try, but I’m going to try out the competition first. Oh, They also had a tinny fm radio playing a local classic rock station slightly too loud. Call me crotchety, but I don’t like hearing Led Zeppelin and Jon Cougar Mellencamp with my breakfast.

For all the diners there are in the Hartford area, Pickle Works could do better. The saddest part was that we didn’t like their pickles.

Have driven by this place for years and never stopped in. from the outside its fairly non-descript. Finally went in for lunch with my son and we were both very impressed. inside is very very nice. super clean… a few flat screen TV’s on the wall… homey atmosphere. my son had the bacon burger… i had the pickleworks burger. Both appeared homemade… cooked exactly as we ordered… served by a very friendly young waitress. fries were good but average. prices appear a tad on the high side… but sandwiches were very enjoyable and large in size… so maybe you do get what you pay for. determined to go for breakfast here soon and will report back. so far. so good.

Great locally owned joint, ate there 3 times in the last four days. Kelly is a good server. We loved the whole staff though. Many people I work with ate there a lot, no one was disappointed.

I’m from the area and have been hearing about Pickle Works for some time now as a great place to grab a traditional, yet more upscale, typical American breakfast. I got the roasted vegetable omelet sans cheese(trying to watch those calories) with home fries, dry wheat toast and coffee. First off, I was seated and waited on by a cute waitress named Emma who, despite having a full dining room, was right there anytime I needed a coffee refill, napkin etc., sometimes before I even asked. Thanks Emma! So, the coffee actually comes in real coffee mugs, not the tiny diner mugs people are used to and it’s good and strong, not the weak ass brown water type stuff you get at greasy spoons. My roasted veggie omelet was perfectly and pillowishly prepared. I know that the other review I read on here mentioned that the eggs were a «fake» eggs product, but I inquired about this and I was told that they use fresh eggs, whipped into a frenzy, which creates the«pillowy» texture that you see and taste. Mine was made using three egg whites and one whole egg and it still came out delicious. Again, regarding the home fries, I’ll have to disagree with the other review. I found them not too salty, but pedestrian and well under salted. As a matter of fact, I don’t think they salt or pepper them at all when preparing them. Overall, it was a very pleasurable and surprisingly delicious experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again to try some other menu items.

I went for breakfast at the Pickle Works because I was getting new brakes on my car at the garage next door. I was shocked at the cleanliness of the place upon walking in. Everything was clean. Floors were spotless and the tables were grease-free. I will be honest I expected to walk into a grease pit but was shocked when it wasn’t. A charming little place with one of the nicest waitresses I’ve ever met. Emma was friendly and attentive. She kept my hot water mug filled! I was impressed with the service and appearance of this joint. The breakfast menu had the typical. Nothing jumped out at me so I opt for a meat lovers omelet. I was going to get the egg Benedict but I’m very particular. The corn beef hash was from the can so I knew I would be disappointed. Back to the food, portions were enormous. I didn’t care for the home fries. They were too salty. The omelet was made with fake eggs, I sort of expected that. The filling was plentiful but wished the filling was precooked on the grill a little longer to brown prior to filling. Overall I wasn’t impressed with the food. The service was great and the place was cute, not worth the log drive but if I was in the area and had no other option I wouldn’t mind stopping simply because it was clean.
