Truly enjoyed the oxtail! Some of the best Jamaican food I’ve had in Wilmington de!!!

Exceptional food at an affordable price, likely due in part to low overhead costs – but don’t let its humble image deter you. Lunch at D&H4 will be the highlight of your week. Also, fair warning: occasionally they are not ready to serve lunch until 12, so consider calling ahead.

Came here for lunch on a day I had jury duty at the county court house across the street. The platters are a magnificent bargain: $ 9 for my curry chicken, rice & beans, and cabbage. Huge portion for the regular, which is what I got; the large, at $ 11, must be enormous. I supplemented that with fried plantains, another large portion of tasty goodness for just $ 2 more. Nice selection of Jamaican drinks including ginger beer, but I opted for just the water. Food was extremely tasty and had a bit of a kick, but definitely manageable for people who aren’t into spicy food.

My wife is going to kill me because I’m in search of Jamaican food. The reviews says it closes at 10 but it is closed now at 9:30! He’s has«been closed a long long time». Can we get some updates please?!

SEEBELOWFORCORRECTTIMES: I didn’t know there was a Jamaican restaurant in the area. This place didn’t really pop up as Jamaican on Unilocal when I did a search for it. So yes, it’s a JAMAICAN restaurant. I asked the one guy working(chef, owner, cashier, etc.) what he recommended for lunch and he said her really liked the jerk chicken, so that’s what I got. It was GREAT! A little spicy, fall off the bone tender. The rice and peas were the best I’ve ever had, sort of swimming a bit in the juice from the chicken which kept them much moister than what you might often get. Finally, the sort of stewed vinegary cabbage/carrots combination was very good. The owner was very nice and not surprisingly the background Jamaican reggae was relaxing. It’s not a fancy place for sure though. The prices were very reasonable — $ 9 for the chicken, rice and cabbage, $ 2 for a beef pattie and $ 1 for a pineapple ginger bber. They probably suffer a bit from the fact that their name is not consistent across all their signage. Sometimes its D&H, sometimes its DH4, and it looks like the name Unilocal is using is a combination of the 2: D&H4. I don’t know if they are at all related to the D&H in Newark. For whatever reason Unilocal didn’t update the times they restaurant is open after I entered the info. HOURS(per their menu, at least, which I posted a picture of): MON, TUES, WED: 11:30 am to 8PM THURS, FRI, SAT: 11:30 am to 10PM

An unexpected surprise. From the outside, I had my doubts. Even as I stepped through the door, I was tentative. This review is entirely food based, it was delicious, a little bland at first bite but the flavors of fall off the bone juicy jerk chicken, the sweetness of boiled carrots with cabbage, and the starchy fullness of red beans and rice proved an excellent lunch value. I’ll be going back!
